Lawyer Quits Hudson Murder Case

The attorney who represented the man accused of killing Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother, and nephew, has withdrawn as the counsel for the accused.

Joshua Kutnick, who own his own practice in Chicago, says he still believes that the accused, William Balfour, is innocent, but cannot support such a high-profile case on his own.

“It’s the kind of case that involves intense hours,” Kutnick said. “I was gathering all resources, but I couldn’t finance it.”

Balfour, the estranged husband of Hudon’s sister, Julia, will be appointed a lawyer by the Public Defender’s office.  He was officially charged with the three homicides by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office on December 2, 2008.
