DLA Piper Defers Incoming Associates

DLA PiperDLA Piper is deferring start dates for incoming associates to January, 2010.

All deferred associates will get a $10,000 stipend in addition to a bar stipend.

The firm is also offering voluntary pro bono fellowships, which pay $5,000 per month throughout 2010. DLA Piper must approve the positions.

Recently, DLA Piper laid off or furloughed Dubai associates; cut partner pay by 11.4%; and laid off 20 lawyers & 34 staff in Asia.
