It seems the negative PR for Toyota just keeps rolling, pun intended. The House Oversight Committee has issued a subpoena requesting the car maker to release any relevant records which contain SUV rollover information. The destruction of legal evidence is what a former ToMoCo lawyer is claiming Toyota engaged in. Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota, has agreed to come before the committee on Feb 24th to testify.

From Toyota’s standpoint, confidential information was being divulged and is thus seeking $33.5 million in damages. A suit has been filed in response against Toyota, claiming they destroyed engineering and testing evidence that was applicable to more than 300 SUV rollover law suits.
