Tuesday, I ran my furthest distance ever! 7 miles! This is how my face looked, the ENTIRE RUN!

Not believing it? Me neither.

This is how my face looked the entire time. Tuesday was a rough day for running. I felt like I was willing myself to go every step of that seven miles. But I did it! My final time was 1:02:59! Also my first run to last over an hour! My pace was 9:03 min/mile, which I feel pretty good about.

I also got a new Road ID band! I ordered two small bands (in case one breaks), since the size medium one was a little too big. They were only $1 each!

On my way home, I stopped by the local bank to pick up some quarters for doing my laundry! Who doesn’t love a little laundry after a 7 mile run…?

Although my run was rough, it was a beautiful day out! Some of the trees were even changing colors and losing leaves! Gotta love fall.

For lunch, I met up with Cate from Good For You. We had lunch a couple weeks ago and finally got together again to try another Chicago restaurant: Icosium Kafe! It’s an Algerian restaurant with locations in Lincoln Park and Lincoln Square. The main food at their Kafe? Crepes! I’ve only had breakfast crepes, so I thought this would be a really fun experience!

When we arrived they gave us cucumber water to begin. I can’t remember ever having cucumber water before… but I liked it!

We had each ordered a crepe, which comes with a  choice of either chicken or vegetable soup. I chose vegetable and it was pretty good. It was a puree of some sort (honestly couldn’t tell…) with peas! I only had a little since I was gearing up for the main event!

On their menu they offer breakfast crepes, tons of sweet crepes and other desserts, and then their main meal crepes. I ordered the Icosium Crepe (or Cheka Chouka). It had roasted peppers, fresh basil, goat cheese, caramelized onions, fresh roma tomatoes, pine nuts, roasted garlic and baby spinach. I also asked them to add some smoked salmon to mine for some protein!

It was absolutely amazing; a heavenly experience. I forgot how good crepes were! The fillings were delicious and the crepe was beyond perfect. It was light and airy and soaked up any of the sauces that were inside. I also loved that there was a little fruit on the side. I definitely needed some of that added sweetness to counteract the heavy flavors in the crepe. To anyone in the Chicago area, I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant! I’m definitely going back for more!

What do you all think of crepes? Have you only had breakfast or sweet crepes, or have you tried other varieties?
