Van Halen Announces 2012 Tour with David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth will be touring with Van Halen as the band celebrates its 40th anniversary.

The band finally announced the touring information after months of speculation on their website, Van-Halen.com, using a series of video clips. No specific tour dates have been released yet, but ticket sales will begin on January 10.

The 2012 tour will feature the following members: David Lee Roth, bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, guitarist Eddie Van Halen, and drummer Alex Van Halen. Roth originally left the group back in 1985.

Taking turns as the frontmen for the group since Roth’s departure have been Sammy Hagar and Gary Cherone. At the MTV Video Music Awards in 1996, Roth joined the band and then returned for a tour in 1997. Bottom of Form

Mike Anthony, the band’s original bassist, will not be with Van Halen in 2012 because he is working with Hagar in the supergroup known as Chickenfoot.

Interscope Records signed Van Halen to a new deal back in November. With that new contract, the band has been working feverishly on its first full-length studio album with Roth at the front since 1984. The new album will also be the first studio release since Van Halen III in 1998.
