The law firm of Yates, McLamb & Weyher announced this week that two of the firm’s attorneys will be serving on the Medico-Legal Liaison Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. The two attorneys are Susan Fountain and Dr. Lori Meyerhoffer. The firm is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. The attorneys are appointed to the committee for the fiscal year of 2012-2013, according to a press release from the firm.
For Fountain, this is her first term serving as a member of the committee. She has been licensed for law practice for 15 years now. Her focus is on the representation of medical institutions, physicians and insurers when it comes to personal injury defense litigation.
Meyerhoffer has been serving as a member of the committee since 2009 and she is a licensed attorney and physician. Meyerhoffer represents physicians, nurses, hospitals and medical practices as an attorney. Meyerhoffer focuses on medial licensing, all types of litigation, Medicare Set Asides, MAC/RAC audits, National Practitioner Data Bank reports and more.
The committee for the Medico-Legal Liaison reviews and revises the Medico-Legal Guidelines and promotes cooperation between the medical industry and the bar. The last time the Medico-Legal Guidelines were edited was back in February of 2009. The brand new committee will have to determine the effect of the new tort reform legislation, which took effect in October of 2011.
