It was announced this week that former senator Scott Brown said he will join the Boston law firm of Nixon Peabody, according to the Boston Globe. Brown will concentrate on areas including the financial services industry and commercial real estate.

Brown will work in the firm’s Boston office, according to a release from the firm. Officials from the firm said Brown will not be a lobbyist even though he will use his contacts in D.C. to bring business to the firm.

“During my time in politics, I never hesitated to reach across the aisle to work with members of any political party to secure a preferable outcome,” Brown said in the press release. “My approach is consistent with the way Nixon Peabody does business and I believe we can be successful together.”

“Scott’s ability to connect people with opportunities is an excellent fit with Nixon Peabody’s culture and strategic priorities,” said Andrew I. Glincher, the firm’s chief executive and managing partner. “Scott’s personality and entrepreneurial spirit will build strong relationships.”

In February, the Boston Globe spoke with Martin W. Healy, the chief legal counsel for the Massachusetts Bar Association. Healy said, “He would be very marketable to some law firms. There is a possibility that a firm would entertain him on a short-term basis, more in a rainmaker kind of a capacity, and may be willing to tolerate his aspiration to seek higher office.”
