Bill Hader Leaves Saturday Night Live

“Oh, Saturday Night Live is on,” you might say.

“Nah,” says your friend, “That show isn’t funny anymore. They lost all their good people.”

This germ of a conversation seems a recurrent feature over the years – I’ve heard it off and on for decades. Well, we’re about to hear some more of it. Bill Hader is leaving the show: this weekend’s episode will be his final one.

“It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point,” he told the New York Times. “It got to a point where I said, ‘Maybe it’s just time to go.’” And that after 8 seasons.

Some of Bill Hader’s more memorable characters, aside from his political parodies and his parody of Clint Eastwood, include Stefon and Vinny Vedecci. He also did impressions of Vincent Price and Eliot Spitzer, and for many was a favorite on the show.

So with Andy Samberg and Kristen Wiig leaving last season, and Seth Meyers leaving next year, we are sure to be hearing more of that favorite conversation about how funny Saturday Night Live used to be when … Will Ferrell and Chris Farley were on it. Or, depending on how old you are, when Bill Murray was rocking the set.
