Hotel Guest Attacked by Prostitutes Who Mistook Her for Competition

Anna Burgese had the worst stay of her life at W South Beach hotel’s recently. Though she and her husband, Joseph, wealthy Philadelphia homebuilder, stay there often, this time was markedly the worst: Anna was attacked by ten prostitutes, some of which were inebriated; they figured her for a fellow prostitute encroaching on their territory, and subsequently slammed her into a wall, while her hubby fended them off using his crutches.

It is unclear what made the prostitutes think she was competition, but as far as her side of the story, she claims the assault was entirely unprovoked. The couple, meanwhile, are suing W South Beach for fostering a “prostitute-friendly environment,” and also for not detaining the violent prostitutes, but in fact placing them in cabs to flee the scene.

“Anna Burgese was the subject of a completely unprovoked, sudden and brutal attack by an unknown number of defendants … [she] was grabbed from behind and thrown with great force into a stone wall head-first. [She] was also tackled to the ground and struck by her assailant,” reads her filed complaint, as reported by the Huffington Post.

“Later, the hotel staff claimed ignorance as to the identity of the attackers,” it continues. “…Prostitutes are permitted to market themselves on the premises, as evidenced by, among other things, the reviews left on various travel websites by former guests.”
