Wasn’t this a skit on South Park at one point? This local ABC reporter Siobhan Riley drew with her finger how road construction could change viewer’s commutes, and in the process, seems to accidentally have drawn a big penis in the middle of downtown Saginaw, Michigan. Maybe she subconsciously meant to communicate that construction was screwing commuters. Whatever the case, the artistic rendition seems to have been inadvertent, though from the clip it appears her co-hosts were tittering at her faux pas.
The interactive map seems to have exposed her Freudian unconscious, but of course live television is rife with inadvertent slips such as this. Being live, as it is, reporters often slip phrases, or laugh during serious segments. A cock up like this is rather common.
News-bloopers is a genre, and makes for some of the most entertaining parts of the news, aside, of course, from the nonstop murders and wars and so forth that happen the world over, and never cease to thrill our cruel desire for gossip before we snuggle up with our loved ones and slip into bed.
