Speaking on the hiring of Rouse and Patterson, Pekins Coie Managing Partner Robert E. Giles said, “Perkins Coie could not be more pleased that Pete and Mark are joining the firm to establish our new Public and Strategic Affairs practice. They are well-known and well-respected throughout the most senior levels of government, and among those who will be warmly welcoming them to Perkins Coie will be our long-time partner Bob Bauer, who worked closely with them during his service as White House Counsel.”

Rouse was dubbed the “101st Senator” during his tenure for his extensive knowledge of Congress. He served as Chief of Staff to different members of the United States Congress for more than thirty years before joining the Senate Office of President Obama in 2004. Before that, he was Chief of Staff for 19 years to Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle. He has also served as Chief of Staff to then-Rep. Dick Durbin of Illinois and Lt. Governor Terry Miller of Alaska.

Rouse was also co-chair of the Obama-Biden Transition Project, as also a Senior Advisor to President Obama’s campaign. He has served Obama since the current President became a Senator.
