Vermont Law School Receives Anonymous Donation

The number-one ranked law school in the country for environmental law, Vermont Law School, has received a $500,000 gift from an anonymous donor. The school is in the top 20 for clinical training, according to VermontBiz.com.

The gift was presented to the school from a trustee who wishes to remain anonymous. The gift is unrestricted and can be used to support a variety of programs and initiatives at the law school. These programs include scholarships and faculty development.

The President and Dean of the law school, Marc Mihaly, said: “This generous gift is a testament to the donor’s belief in the work we do at Vermont Law School. Unrestricted gifts give us flexibility. They enable the school to seize new opportunities as well as retain our small class sizes, top-rated clinical training programs, and talented faculty – all of which our alumni cite as key to their success in practice.

“We are thankful to this anonymous donor and to all of our supporters who share our commitment to developing a generation of leaders who use the law to make a difference,” Mihaly said.

The law school has also received sizable grants and gifts over the past six months in addition to this $500,000 donation. A pledge of $1.5 million in support for the school’s environmental program and a grant extension of $700,000 from the U.S. Agency for International Development were extended to the school for its projects in Southeast Asia.
