There are a number of different awards that law students and attorneys are eligible for. The listing provides the name of the award, the association giving the award, their phone number and fax number, and the website and email to apply to. Some awards are for other countries, but the majority are for those in the United States.

Not everyone will be eligible for all awards. For instance, the Anne Wells Branscomb Award given by George Washington School of Law is awarded to the member of the graduating class with the highest average grade for the entire course of the evening division in a J.D. degree.

For some awards, more than one person will earn the title. The 2013 recipient for the Award for Achievement in Environmental Law, Policy and Management was George P. Shultz and Thomas F. Steyer. The award is given by the Environmental Law Institute.

Other awards are given based on your actions. The William O. Douglas Award goes to someone that contributes to writing about freedom of speech. The award is given by the Sierra Club and presented by the Commission on Freedom of Expression of the Speech Communication Association.
