Facebook ‘Faces’ Off with DLA Piper

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is ‘facing’ off with New York businessman, Paul Ceglia, who’s represented by powerhouse law firm DLA Piper.

According to Ceglia, he owns 50 percent of the wildly popular social networking site, Facebook, and that Zuckerberg defrauded him.

He has the backing of DLA Piper, which is confident that the evidence he has presented is genuine.

Ceglia filed a lawsuit against Zuckerberg and Facebook in July, alleging he had paid Zuckerberg for some web development work and invested $1,000 in the then nascent Facebook in exchange for 50 percent of the business. A previous complaint alleged he owned 84% of the company. According to the April 13th article at ukibtimes.com, DLA Piper spent weeks examining the evidence, which includes emails between Ceglia and Zuckerberg, and they are confident they are genuine.

Orin Snyder, an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, was quoted as saying in – ironically – an emailed statement: “This is a fraudulent lawsuit brought by a convicted felon, and we look forward to defending it in court. From the outset, we’ve said that this scam artist’s claims are ridiculous and this newest complaint is no better.”
