A decade old malpractice claim against Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr is still in the air and if proved Wilmer will have to shell out $214 million in payments to The Medicines Co, a New Jersey-based pharmaceutical company. The patent for an anti-blood clotting drug Angiomax, of The Medicines Co. was under extension and represented by Wilmer which was ruled out by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and hence the case for over a decade.
