A glitch with the Law School Admission Council’s online system has caused prospective law students and admissions offices to scramble this past week leading up to the March 1 deadline, according to The National Law Journal.
The issue was found by the council on February 26, three days prior to the application deadline that is followed by close to one-quarter of all law schools, according to Wendy Margolis. Margolis is a spokeswoman for the council.
Students trying to apply using the site were rerouted to a domain registration website and could not use the credential assembly service of the council.
“People need to keep trying to access the site, because the fix may have made its way through,” she said. “We understand their pain, and we are doing all we can. People need to be patient.”
The council spoke with law school admissions officials about extending the deadline because of the problem with the website. A tweet from the University of Notre Dame Law School said that the issue “will in no way put anyone at a disadvantage in our process.”
The council finally did announce that law school that hold a March 1 deadline for applications will still accept them past the date because of the issue. The law school at the University of Pennsylvania has pushed its acceptance date back to March 8.
