It would be funny if it weren’t so disgusting. A St. George man from Utah claimed he raped his unconscious neighbor to “save her life.” The woman had suffered an epileptic fit and was found unconscious outside her apartment. Roger William Kelly, 50, brought her to his home, changed her clothes, and put her in his bed. Then, when she seemed to be too cold, he “attempted intercourse to warm her.”
The pair in fact had once had a sexual relationship, but she told him that she no longer wanted to have sex with him. When police arrived upon a report of an unconscious person, they found him performing CPR on her. When she later came to, she claimed that she had been raped, upon finding bruising in her upper thighs. Though a rape kit could not confirm the rape, as she had already been cleaned up, Kelly freely admitted having intercourse with her. The police statement says, as Gawker reported, “He said he did place it inside of her to try to get her temperature up.”
Kelly was arrested on Friday on charges of first-degree rape, with a bail set at $25,000. Whether he thinks his excuse will be seen with any legitimacy in court is uncertain at this point.
