According to the website for LSAC, the number of people who took the LSAT in the month of February increased. Even though there was an increase, it was not a massive increase.
As the LSAT Blog notes, the number of people who took the LSAT in February 2014 came in at 19,499. This is a 1.1 percent increase compared to February of 2013 when 19,286 people took the LSAT.
This is the first year-over-year increase since June of 2010.
There are really no conclusions to draw from this miniscule increase, especially since it is roughly 200 new test-takers from 2013 to 2014. The good sign that comes from this is the fact that the number of people taking the LSAT did not continue its decline like it had been doing for the past couple of test administrations.
The February test date had not seen a positive increase in people taking the LSAT since 2008-2009 when there was an increase of 11.5 percent. There had been four straight Februaries that saw decreases before this one logged the 1.1 percent increase.
So, many people might be wondering what caused this increase, even though it is a minor one. The answer could lie in the fact that there has been less bad news in the media about job prospects in the legal industry.
