Penn Law Names Jeffrey Vagle Executive Director of CTIC

Jeffrey Vagle has been appointed as the first Executive Director of the Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition (CTIC) at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, according to a press release from the school.

Vagle will be responsible for driving the research and programming agenda at the Center while also developing a calendar of programs. The programs will include faculty workshops, conferences, faculty fellowships and visiting scholar programs. He will also be responsible for directing student programs such as internships and fellowships.

Vagle worked recently as an associate for the Pepper Hamilton Privacy, Security and Data Protection Group. He earned his law degree from Temple University. He earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University in mathematics. He worked as a practicing engineer for six years with BBN Technologies.

CTIC Faculty Director Christopher S. Yoo said:

“Jeff is a perfect fit for the Center. He has a unique background that blends academic and professional experience in the fields of the law and technology, and he will help CTIC expand relationships across Penn, and with policy makers and legal and industry professionals.”

The main goal of the CTIC is to promote research that can shape the way scholars, legislators and regulatory authorities think about intellectual property, technology policy and privacy.
