The law firm of DLA Piper has announced that Mark Riera joined the firm in the Los Angeles office as a partner, according to a press release.

Riera works as an appellate and trial lawyer who represents clients in transportation, banking, motor vehicles and pharmaceutical issues. He has defended clients against issues regarding securities fraud, wage and hour violations and price fixing.

Riera has argued cases in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, 23 state courts and the United States Supreme Court.

“Mark is a premier litigator with experience in handling all aspects of disputes on a variety of levels,” said James Brogan, US co-chair of DLA Piper’s Litigation practice. “His experience working with novel and challenging issues on behalf of a diverse client base makes him a strong addition to our national practice.”

Riera is the second partner to join the Los Angeles office of DLA Piper this week after Phyllis Cheng joined the firm.

“Like all of our litigators, Mark provides aggressive, creative and practical representation to clients involved in a range of complex areas, such as securities litigation, product liability, white collar defense, antitrust and intellectual property,” said Perrie Weiner, co-managing partner of the Los Angeles area offices. “We look forward to working with him.”

Riera comes to DLA Piper from Dentons. He earned his law degree from Stanford Law School and his undergraduate degree from Pomona College. He has a graduate degree from Cornell University.
