Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a good week, I know it’s a shorter one for those of you who didn’t have to go into work because of the polar vortex! Haha did you ever think you’d have polar vortex days? I sure didn’t… Anyhoo, on to this week’s Thursday Thoughts!
1. Devastated by what happened this past Saturday and clearly so was Molly. I actually almost threw up. I felt like I’d just gone through a horrible break up, my heart hurt so much. Yes, this seems dramatic but only a Chiefs fan would understand. We shall no longer speak of this tragedy.
2. I LOVE photo booths! And probably because I’ve only done like two in my life (how sad, right?). It’s basically just a glorified selfie with your friends, which I love. There was a photo booth at the New Years Eve party I went to and I probably could have spent half the night in there.
3. My parents are moving. Womp, womp. They’ve lived in the same house for 30 years and I had to say goodbye to it when I left last week. It will be so weird going home after this.
4. Since they were moving, we had to clean out a bunch of our stuff. I found about a trillion Barbies:
and NINETY SEVEN beanie babies. NINETY SEVEN. Some belong to my little brother, but they’re mostly mine… They will all be donated.
5. I got a new iPhone! Whooohoooo! Pretty excited since my old one’s battery was about shot, and it would randomly turn off and not turn back on whenever it felt like it. Now I just have to pick out a case…
6. My cousin is going through rush and it’s making me miss my sorority, and college. Ah, those were the good old days – you always had friends around and somewhere fun to go and half the time it was in costume.
7. I have made it a goal to make AT LEAST one recipe every week – aka meal plan and meal prep. I’m so bad about this but I know I much prefer to have a meal ready to go for dinner rather than end up snacking through dinner. It’s definitely an issue when you’re home too much.
8. I forget sometimes how much support I have, from both my friends and family whom I’ve known all my life, and from people I’ve only met once or twice. I got the sweetest Facebook message this morning as I was finishing up my blog post, and it’s so nice to know that people are praying for me and wishing me luck. Ah, I’m getting all sappy. So a big thank you to all of you who read and encourage me!
Did you live in the same house growing up, or did you move?
Do you have a favorite (and EASY) recipe that I should try?
number EIGHT MADE ME SMILE.
hard.
big.
Awwww good! 🙂
we lived in the same house growing up and my parents are still there and i don’t think they’re leaving anytime soon! i’ve been home these last three days due to snow days and i’ve literally snacked my way through the days… MUST MAKE A MEAL TODAY (for snow day #4 ahhh)
Tell them to STAY! I’m so sad my parents are moving!
Thankfully, my parents plan never to move, but we have also decreed that they can never change the sofa. It may have been bought in the 80s, but it is honestly the best sofa ever! My meal plan went a bit awry today (I forgot I eat dinner at work on Thursdays too…) so I’ll be planning more carefully this time around, just makes life easier! And, yes, random internet strangers are rooting for you too (at least I am!).
Thanks, Sarah!
I’m sure if my parents ever moved or if we really cleaned out the basement it would be Barbie city too! 😉
HAha you never know what you’ll find!
I’m sorry about your loss. I was stomping my feet at half time and almost in tears when in was 38-10, but well, you know. My emotions have never swayed from one end of the spectrum to the other during a game before. Andrew Luck, that beauty.
Your beanie babies made me LAUGH! So funny. I have so many of those still I think…
I’ve been writing posts about food prep and meal plans this week! I made an awesome crock pot turkey rice soup yesterday that turned out AMAZING. Super easy, so delicious. I’m going to have to post the recipe soon. I have a few really easy soup/rice dishes posted already though if you’re interested 🙂
Sounds delicious!
My parents moved when I was 21 and it was SO weird! I still feel like I’m going home when I visit but it takes a bit to get used to!
Ahh so weird! I think it will take a bit for me to get used to it too.
If you haven’t donated all the beanie babies yet, we did save the holiday themed bears and put them on random shelves in our house. Its a good conversation piece, plus its just hilarious that we all had to have them!
I’m sending them all off! A family friend is taking them to a charity that gives them to foster children, I think they’ll enjoy them more than I would!
Bahahaha! I loved my Barbies and Beanie Babies too! Love that you had all of that. 🙂
We lived in the same house growing up too, but my parents just moved two years ago. It was pretty sad going back to visit them the first few times, but I’ve gotten used to it.
I hope I get used to it too! I’m sure I will
I always lived in the same house growing up and then my parents moved this summer 🙁 I was 3,000miles away so I didn’t get a chance to go through my childhood stuff, say goodbye to the house, etc. It was a total bummer! Glad you got to say goodbye to all of your awesome stuff (beanie babies included)!
Aww such a bummer! I was definitely glad I got to say goodbye!
I remember when my parents moved out of our old house. It was so weird! Now they live with my grandfather to help take care of him, so it still feels somewhat like childhood.
PS – Makenzie would be in HEAVEN with all of those beanie babies. Kid loves stuffed animals of any kind like none other.
Every time I ask my mom why in the world she bought us so many, she keeps saying it was just too hard to say no because we loved them so much!
That picture of the Barbies makes me SO happy. I loved Barbies more than any of my other toys combined growing up.
And funny that you said you have made it a goal to try one new recipe a week because I just wrote that down as a goal of mine last night! I just have a grad school application to submit and I can be stress free and ready to cook!
I hope your grad application went well!
Isn’t it wonderful to get those messages that remind us that we are loved? Glad you got some!
So glad, thanks Megan!
Oh man, I think we have AT LEAST that many beanie babies downstairs. The whole original collection? Ya, my grandma bought one each for my brother and I. Then more to play with so the others could be kept in plastic tubs and “preserved.” Lol. She went a little crazy to say the least. It sucks they aren’t worth a darn.
That picture of Molly may be my favorite yet! 🙂
haha right? I even tried to see if I could sell them! No go.
I have recurring (legit!) nightmares about my parents moving. They’ve lived in the house for nearly 35 years, so it’s the only house I’ve ever known. I know it’s coming soon, though, because they’re in their early 60s and my mom is already retired. They’ve started talking about their “next” house. It must have been so hard to do that! I’ll be thinking of you!
They’ve been talking about it for years, which I think helped me get used to the idea
i like number 8 as well. You do have support, all around you, because you are YOU!
p.s.
My parents moved from their house of 30 years last year. It’s odd but kinda freeing for them. a new adventure.
Exactly, that’s what makes me feel better: this is their next big adventure.
After my parents got divorced my mom moved several times. I always think of the house we lived in while I was in high school and college as the house I grew up in, though. Strangely. Anyway, they sold that house and built a new one in…2007, I think. I remember being really sad but I love their new house so much that it feels like home now, too.
Yea, I think I’m one of the weird ones that never moved growing up!
wahoo iphone!!
and for us we had just 2 houses growing up – one house we were in from babies until about 4-5 years old then we moved to our current parents house, and they are still leaving in that house 🙂
That’s pretty good since you probably don’t remember the first too well
Omigosh, those Beanie Babies.
haha SO many
My parents have lived in the same house since we moved there when I was 5. My dad is looking for a job right now, and they may be moving to another city! Going “home” would be so, so weird if that happened.
Ah that would be so weird! At least my parents are moving a 10 minute drive away!
