Hey everyone!! Who is excited for the weekend?!?! I am! I also cannot believe that I only have ONE WEEK of classes left!Seriously, where did law school go???? At least this isn’t like college where I wish I could go back and do it all again and again. No way. Haha.
So last week I got an e-mail from Kristina saying she’d nominated me for the Liebster Award! I’ve done a lot of these in the past so I don’t usually do them (out of courtesy for you all – repetition…) but it’s been a really long time since I’ve done one so I thought it would be fun today!
Rules for the Liebster Award
- Write 11 random facts about yourself.
- Answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you.
- Create 11 new questions.
- Nominate 11 bloggers and mention them in your post.
- Thank the person that nominated you and tell the people you’ve nominated.
11 Random Facts About Me:
1. I went to summer camp in MN for 7 years (where I learned to sail) and then taught sailing at another MN camp one summer. I miss it so much!
I’m third from the left
2. I buy a new Camelbak water bottle every 6 months. The top straw part always breaks… probably because I carry it around with my teeth.
3. I absolutely hate black licorice. There are very few foods/flavors that I dislike, but I hate black licorice with a passion.
4. I love fishing. I don’t know why, but I love it. I guess I started at a young age…
5. I haven’t slept through an entire night (aka more than 3-4 hours) since I was in High School. Apparently this isn’t normal?
6. My shoe size is 8. Just FYI.
7. I have never left the continent. The only countries I’ve traveled to are the Bahamas and the British Virgin Islands. I have, however, been to 30 states!
8. I went to the same school from when I was 2 until I graduated when I was 18, there were about 10-15 of us who made it through the whole time, a few of whom are some of my best friends from Kansas City!
9. If I’m on my computer, my g-mail is open. Almost always. Anyone else? I think I love to gchat too much…
10. I’m really bad at coming up with facts about myself. Seriously. This has taken me days of coming back to so I can fill it out.
11. Ella Enchanted was my absolute favorite book for several years growing up, although I have to say I was disappointed in the movie that came out a few years back… (obviously this was pre-Harry Potter).
Kristina’s 11 Questions:
1. What is your favorite relaxing activity?
Reading! I absolutely love to read when I have free time, although it’s not often in law school. I also love coloring… I bought some crayons a while back and when I’m really stressed I love to just doodle.

Running. Running. Running.
3. Favorite brand of coffee?
The Roasterie!!!!! I LOVE IT. I miss it…
4. What are your pet’s names?
NEVILLE. Named after Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter. I felt they had similar personalities…
5. How long have you been blogging?
1 year and 8.5 months. I feel like it’s been so much longer than that…
6. What is your favorite recipe to make at home?
No recipe is my favorite… I actually really don’t like recipes, I just make my own stuff up. Right now, however, I’m obsessed with my Chocolate Protein Oat Bran…
7. What is your guilty pleasure?
Uuuuhh…. I don’t know? I don’t really feel “gulity” about anything? I do love reality TV though, like Keeping Up With the Kardashians. I don’t watch much reality tv though because I don’t have a television, unless the show is on HULU!
8. How do you motivate yourself to be active?
Because it makes me feel great! I loooove being active, I crave it! On the off day that I am feeling lazy (and don’t just make it a rest day…) I remind myself how much better I’ll feel once I’ve gotten my workout in!
9. Favorite artist to run/workout to?
Hmm. Blink 182 and Eminem for running. I have a few songs that really get me amped up (yes, I just said “amped up”).
10. Favorite vacation spot?
Oooo hard! I love traveling to new places! But my favorite repeat spot is Colorado Springs!
11. What is one of your long term goals?
Be happy. I think that’s all you can ever ask for.
Instead of picking new bloggers and asking questions, I want to ask you to answer any of these questions, or share an interesting/random fact!
I LOVE ELLA ENCHANTED! I love it so much that previous sentence had to be all caps. 🙂 It’s one of my favorites. I try to forget about the movie. It was a mess. I love, love, love that your pet is Neville! A random fact is my right leg is longer than my left. Haha.
My right leg is longer too! Actually the whole right side of my body is shifted lower than the left so it all appears longer…
Oh my goodness cracking up at the fact that your fish’s name is Neville. Harry Potter was basically my childhood…I’ve named so many of my stuffed animals after HP characters!
I’ve also wanted to go to Colorado for the longest time–it looks SO gorgeous!
A random fact of mine that’s slightly similar to a random fact of yours is that I buy a new Nalgene water bottle every 4 months. I can’t stand to have one longer than that…I feel like it gets so gross. (I do wash it often, but still…)
You must go to CO! Haha I don’t wash mine often either… another reason for replacing it.
!!! Love it actually! What camp did you go to? I too went to summer camp in MN for 11 years. It’s YMCA camp warren. Best years of my life.
Camp Birchwood! MN is the best for camps!
I love how your goldfish is named after Neville Longbottom. That is just too cute!
Haha I love it too, he’s pretty awesome.
I loved Ella Enchanted! I remember reading it in middle school before reading for fun fell to the wayside. And I’m also a big camp person. I went to a YMCA Camp in WI for 8 years before working there every summer during college. Every kid should go to camp!
I totally agree, camp was a huge part of my childhood!
gasp! my husband is a black licorice addict. But you gotta try the NZ kind, it’s way better!
p.s.
Come back to TX
Seriously. I’ve actually only driven through the northern tip when we were going from Flagstaff to KC.
Haha, I love that your fish and Neville have so much in common. 🙂 I’m not into fishing, but I’ll take any excuse to sit on a dock (or boat) in the sunshine. Cute pic!
Lol they do, I’m just waiting for my fish to be a hero like Neville was in the last book. Still waiting…
My dogs name is Bentley! People often ask where his name is from and think its the car or country singer but nope I just thought it was a cute dog name. We usually call him Mr. B. I think one of my favorite relaxing activities is walking outside, reading a good book or watching some trashy reality tv show.
Haha when you first told me your dog’s name is Bentley I didn’t think anything of it, I just thought it was cute!
I loooove Ella Enchanted! And I, too, was so disappointed with the movie.
Yep… such a disappointment.
Love Ella Enchanted! Such a good book, but yes, major disappointment when it came to the movie. It was cute, but not the same.
Yep, just not the same!
I’ve never seen Ella Enchanted! Or Fresh Prince of Bel Air, or Friends. And I call myself a 90’s kid…
Oh my goodness, you MUST watch Friends! I didn’t start watching until after the series finale, and I’ve become HOOKED! My absolute favorite show ever!
Agreed.
Lol Ella Enchanted was made into a movie in 2004 so not really 90s but close. Did you watch Full House? If so you can call yourself a 90s kid 🙂
I have seen a few episodes of Full House at least!
1) I LOOOVED Ella Enchanted, too!
2) I have extremely flexible fingers (double jointed?) I can bend my four fingers backwards and have them almost touch my arm without feeling anything…I never thought this was weird until I showed people, and every since people always get sooo freaked out! (My mom and brother can do the same thing!)
Oh wow! Haha you must be double jointed! I’m definitely not…
FYI I have a thing for buying water bottles too but you can buy just the top mouth piece & straws even! R.E.I has them 🙂
I know they have those but what’s broken is the hinge that makes the mouth piece move up and down which you can’t replace.
I have never been to CO and am DYING to go.
Ah you MUST!
I was hoping you would talk more about golfing! I want to hear about this!
Blink182 FTW! Although I prefer Good Charlotte…
lol I can golf. You should all come to CO or KC and we can all go golfing.
Thanks for sharing those little tid-bits of you! Now I know you a bit more 🙂 By the way, I always have my Gmail open on my computer too! And I hate black liquorice too!
I think black licorice is one of those love it or hate it kind of things!
Black licorice IS awful. Sooo gross.
There’s this awesome coffee shop near me called Big Shoulders that has the best coffee in the city. I’m obsessed!
Um we all need to go there. ASAP.
Hi Katie-Long time reader here, but have never actually commented before! I used to live in Chicago but have since moved out to San Francisco. Anyways, stop buying new camelbak tops haha those have a lifetime warranty. If you go to the website and fill out the form they will send you a new top for free 🙂 I have the same problem where I carry it around with teeth, heh.
Ah thank you!!!!!!
I am constantly breaking my camelbak too!!!!
Fun fact about me? I was born and grew up in Canada but have American citizenship. I went to summer camp in New Hampshire for 10 years so I sort of feel American 🙂
Um see Emily’s comment above about broken Camelbaks! Haha and you are so sort of American! Summers totally count.
2 answers in 1: My favorite relaxing activity is walking my cockapoos, Deefer (as in ‘D for dog’) and Muddy Waters (named after the Jazz singer). Love these sorts of posts 🙂
Awww dogs are the best for relaxing!
Hmmm . . . my favorite recipe right now is probably all these spaghetti squash bakes I’ve been making. I think the best part is actually how much my husband enjoys them! 🙂
Really? You haven’t slept through a night in that long?!? wow.
I love spaghetti squash! And maybe I’ve slept a whole night through once or twice a year? Usually because I’m passed out…
I feel so sorry for you that you haven’t slept for longer than 3-4 hours straight!!! Really insightful post and amusing in parts – like the camelback! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend!
oh no, please don’t feel sorry for me! oh geez, haha if that’s one of the worst things then I’ve got a great life!
I usually wake up around 2-3am. I even did that pre-baby. I read an article about it (http://www.marksdailyapple.com/biphasic-sleep/#axzz2RcBbIaEd) so I guess it’s not too abnormal.
I figured I wasn’t the only one!
Yes — I LOVED Ella Enchanted as well! 🙂
So good!
You aren’t the only one who wakes up at night! I wake up usually two times each night.
Random fact: I was born without 9 of my adult teeth. Up until November, I still had baby teeth (I’m 24!). I had major surgery and had them removed and then 6 implants put in. Crazy expensive…all because of crazy genetics that caused me to miss teeth! lol.
Happy Friday 🙂 Good luck with the last few weeks of law school. I just took my last final yesterday and now will be graduating with my Masters next weekend!
Oh my gosh, that’s crazy! I’m glad you were able to get the surgery though, although I’m sure it was difficult to go through. CONGRATS on graduating so soon!!!!!
Colorado Springs sounds beautiful! Definitely on my places-to-see list 🙂
It’s so gorgeous! Let me know if you ever go!
I LOVED Ella Enchanted too and I was so disappointed by the movie version 🙁
I totally agree… it’s an alright movie on it’s own I guess but it’s just not Ella Enchanted…
I’m in KC….I’m just curious which school you went to? Pembroke? Barstow?
I’d rather not share on the blog what school I went to for privacy reasons, but yay for KC!
