Bonjour!
Everyone excited that the weekend is almost here? For me it practically is the weekend since I just have once class tonight, but my hope is this week instead of just hanging around and doing very little work Thursday/Friday then trying to get all my work done Saturday/Sunday I’ll do the opposite… Just gotta kick my butt into gear today. Hopefully… Haha. Anyway, while I contemplate being super productive, you all can enjoy this week’s Thursday Thoughts!
1. Molly wanted to show you all her new shark toy:
2. I ordered my bridesmaid dress for my college BFF/sorority sister’s wedding in June and it made it all so real, she’s getting MARRIED! So excited!
3. I haven’t read the book club books for either Julie’s book club or my Chicago Blogger book club… #epicfail. Why? I just don’t want to buy more books when I have so many already that I haven’t read yet! (and my library takes months to get a book if it’s not there right now).
4. I finally went running outside in the cold (okay, it was technically above freezing) and despite the crazy cold wind, I was so glad I got off that treadmill and went outdoors! I forgot how much more quickly a run goes by when you’re outside!
5. Kelsey got a closet consultation on Sunday from Erin (Loop Looks) and a few of us went over to “watch” (aka an excuse to all hang out and look at Kelsey’s wardrobe). Well all that work clothing talk got me inspired to wear something other than jeans or sweatpants to my classes Monday! (if you follow me on instagram you already know this…).
6. Note to self: when taking pictures of yourself in the school bathroom, turn OFF your camera “click” sound…
7. One of my new favorite breakfasts is polenta & eggs. “Recipe” coming soon…
8. Emily wrote a great post on Tuesday about how the healthy living blogger world can sometimes distort our image of what we should be like and how it’s important to just be our version of healthy!
9. I’m a board member on my school’s Environmental Law Society and we held a bake sale yesterday to help raise money for our summer fellowship. I made some funfetti cupcakes (not gluten free…) and then attempted some Gluten Free Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. Sounds good, right? The batter tasted great… but it was runny and I didn’t realize just how runny… #epicfail
Needless to say, the gluten free ones did not make it to the bake sale…
What was your most recent kitchen fail?
Are you a polenta fan?
Ever try to take a secret photo but forget the “click” sound was on?
My phone’s camera doesn’t have an OFF switch for sound; it even makes an annoying shutter noise when the volume is completely down! So annoying.
That idea of a closet consultation is so interesting.
Sad about those cookies. They sounded so good! At least the ones turned out looking awesome!
oh gosh, haha that’s bad! Mine will go completely silent, as long as I remember to switch it!
Thank you for the mention! And yes, sometimes I try to take pictures sneakily in public, and then the click sound goes off! Embarrassing!
haha it’s the most awkward thing ever
OMGOSH my life is one big kitchen fail.
It would probably save us time if I detailed the successes? 🙂
Haha that works too! I try to keep it simple and not use recipes to avoid fails…
haha totally laughed at the secret photo click! i always try and sneak photos in the locker room before or after yoga and people look at me like i’m crazy if they walk in! why is this girl standing in front of a mirror taking pictures of herself?? i can only imagine what they’re thinking!!
What’s weird is when I see other people taking pictures of themselves, I think “how weird” but then I do it All. The. Time.
I have been trying to get over the embarrassment of taking pictures in public. If I’m going to be a successful blogger, I know I need to JUST DO IT! But I totally agree–it can be humiliating when someone looks at you like “Wow, how narcissistic!” Lol.
Haha it is awkward, but eventually you get to the point where you try not to care what anyone else thinks! I try to remind myself that I probably won’t see them again…
Ok, you know I always love these posts 😀
First and foremost, enjoy your ONE class today 😀
Second, I NEED THAT RECIPE
Third, I totally took a pic of myself with the sound ON yesterday!!!!
Forth, I miss you 🙁
Love ya girl xo
Thanks! And the polenta and egg recipe? I’ll probably put it up on Sunday!
Molly, Bentley loves your new shark toy! Can’t wait for the egg and polenta recipe it looks so good, i love anything with a runny egg.
Haha I’ll let Molly know! She loves it.
I have gotten good at secret photos but a lady next to me on the Metra took a selfie the other day not so secretly and she look and me embarrassed. Public transportation is always fun!
Haha I LOVE public transportation, it’s always entertaining!
I can’t get used to the texture of polenta! Every time I try to make something with it it turns into a kitchen fail. Have a great weekend! 🙂
I used to not like it, but I’ve finally found a way to make it that I really love!
HAHA I’m dying at your cookies! I am SO bad at baking but that’s because I hate measuring. You know I don’t have the patience to actually measured crap!
Lol I didn’t measure anything… probably a big part of the issue… I just started dumping more flour into it hoping it would thicken up…
Bathroom mirror pics can definitely be awkward, especially if somebody sees you doing it! I love the outfit though. Very Elle Woods ; ).
Haha someone walked in about 2 seconds later! I think I recovered nicely…
Mmmm I love polenta! Cute outfit!!
Thanks, Lauren!
So this wasn’t my baking fail, but right around Christmas my roommate decided to make chocolate chip cookies to give to some of her friends for the holiday. When she took them out of the oven it was clear that something had gone VERY wrong…basically it was just chocolate chips burned to tin foil. There was no “cookie” to speak of. As it turns out, she forgot to add the flour to the dough. That’s one way to do GF baking! Hahahaha. At least your GF cookies look edible, if not bake sale worthy.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA omg I love that, definitely made me laugh!
I love your dress outfit! That fuchsia top is a nice pop of color. Molly looks like she really loves her new toy. I tried to take a stealthy photo of one of my professors using a tree branch as a pointer once but my camera made noise…bummer.
Hahaha aww that’s awkward in class!
I just had an epic fail last night for my new healthy crockpot recipe for the family, it was horrible!!! Thank goodness for Hungry Howies being on my husbands way home from work
Thank goodness for fast food sometimes! Well, I’m guessing it’s fast food? I’ve never heard of Hungry Howies!
That’s so exciting that you get to be a bridesmaid!! I’ve never even been in a wedding before so I’m kinda jealous. You’re going to look beeeee-autiful!
It’s my second time being in a wedding, the first was my older brother’s!
haha aww gluten free fail. eh happens. Love your outfit and yes I snapchat and forget to turn off the sound… not the best look
haha so awkward. and thanks!
Your ‘dressed up’ outfit is super cute!!
I did a whole post on kitchen fails this week….so yah, I’m used to ’em 😉
I am about to start the Julie’s book club book, so I hope to read it quick!
Haha I thought of you when I was putting that into the post!
I’ve forgotten to turn the flash off when snapping pictures of my food at work before. I always feel super self-conscious afterwards too…
haha I love that awkward moment when you just freeze… hoping no one noticed.
Gluten-free baked goods are HARD! I’ve basically failed in some way with all the ones I’ve made. Except the rice krispie treats. Those seemed okay.
I made some awful rice krispie treats actually… Haha but this is my first GF baking fail! I think the problem was I wasn’t good about measuring…
While trying to take a picture of the Playbill for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (with Scarlett Johansson!) this past weekend, I realized that the flash was on. The show hadn’t started yet but it was still a little awkward when the entire row turned their head at me to see what was going on…whoops!
My boyfriend and I are polenta freaks. I grabbed some at Trader Joe’s the last time I was visiting my parents not knowing what to expect. I make it pretty often now! It’s really fun to experiment with.
Haha at least it wasn’t during the show!
I am not a huge polenta fan sadly, but Joe says he can turn me into one…we shall see…those funfetti cookies look amazing! And YOU looked GORGEOUS on Monday…I saw that and meant to say something and then got distracted by one of the boys I nanny for…I’m sorry 🙁
I used to hate it, but the way I made it now is pretty good. And thank you, that is so sweet!
oh my gosh.. Katie how am i just finding your blog!? Love it!
also.. i have definitely been in the secret photo/click sound dilemma before. luckily the person didnt notice (or at least pretended not to?)
I dont love polenta anymore – i could take it or leave it. My family is italian and i ate it A. LOT. growing up. like seriously, feels like every meal. haha.
Thank you, Andrea! I’m glad you like what you see! And I never liked polenta but suddenly I’m loving it!
I’ve never tried polenta! Definitely need to give that ago. The wardrobe thing sounds like a lot of fun. My fails in the chicken recently have been under cooking meat, I’m still getting used to cooking it again!
