Hey everyone! Sorry I’m running a bit late this morning, I’m having serious internet connection issues here in Colorado. Currently sitting by the modem plugged in and I finally got it working!
Monday morning I had a chiropractor appointment in KC (my mom wanted me to see her doctor) and then my mom and I headed straight out to Colorado Springs!
The drive is about 9 hours, but I felt like it went by pretty quickly! We only stopped twice, to switch drivers, use the restroom and for my mom to grab a sandwich (I brought all my own food, including a salad I got the day before from Whole Foods).
Once we got in, we had dinner at Coquette’s Bistro and Bakery, which is entirely gluten free and everything is made in house. I highly recommend it, whether or not you’re gluten free! The crepes are seriously amazing.
I also managed to finish a book club book!!!! For anyone wanting to participate in our Chicago Blogger’s Book Club this month, the book is called The Life You’ve Imagined
I’ll need any reviews or links to your blog posts about the books by Sunday, April 14th.
Finally, here are some photos from the drive:
Don’t forget to enter my Ellie Giveaway! You have until Wednesday night!
When was the last time you took a road trip?
What are you reading right now?
Yay have fun in Colorado!!
How was the book club book? It’s next on my list.
I had a hard time getting started with it, but once you get into it I really liked it!
The last time I remember taking a road trip was…last March? It’s been a while!
Right now, I’m reading ‘The Name of Wind’ by Patrick Rothfuss. I’m slightly depressed that I’m almost done it…it’s so good!
I haven’t read that book, I’ll have to look it up!
I love colorado! Lots of good breweries to check out! I’m reading a few things currently!
Haha LOTS of breweries!
I absolutely LOVE Colorado. My little sister is heading to college there next year and I am beyond jealous. Talk about people who know what living an active life is about!
I’m jealous too! Haha although I know if I had gone to Boulder I’d never get anything done…
Looks like fun! My last roadtrip was this summer to Florida! I’m currently reading “The Paris Wife” and “Valley of Silence” by Nora Roberts!
I read the Paris Wife! But haven’t heard of Valley of Silence, maybe I’ll look it up!
I love Colorado. Have been living here for the past 4 years and it amazes me everyday. The last road trip I have taken was in last May. I desperately need to take a vacation – may be a road trip in summer.
I’m glad you love living here! I’ve considered moving quite often!
We love our annual CO road trip! Can’t wait for July to roll around ….we’re thinking about extending our trip to drive further west …we’ll see.
Deeeefinitely go further west! I love the west, it’s so gorgeous!
Have fun in Colorado! I’m impressed you only stopped once, I always have to stop and pee on road trips.
We stopped twice! Haha and I was shocked too – normally it’s three times!
Love the views from your drive!! And seriously, only stopped twice. I always have to stop to stretch my legs and get random drinks.
Well, my mother isn’t a big fan of stopping… haha so I kept my mouth shut! Practically fell out of the car when we arrived!
What a fun road trip! I love Colorado! I have a hard time reading in the car for some reason, but what a great way to pass some time! My last road trip was home to Atlanta. It went by fast too! : )
Sometimes I’m fine reading in the car but sometimes it makes me nauseous! I guess it depends on bumpiness?
Yay! Glad to see that you got to Colorado safely 🙂 We took a road trip this weekend to DC for the Rock and Roll half…only 4 hours or so…my kind of road trip 😉 I’m currently still making my way through The Name of the Wind…love it but don’t have a chance to sit down and read very often sadly
Haha 4 hours is plenty for a good road trip!
I have a limit of 6.5 hours in the car so no long road trips for me since the time I drove to Florida the day after I graduated high school. But we are driving that 6+ hours to Cleveland on Thursday. Wish me luck!
Haha I hope you survive! My longest road trip was 21 hours, but we did it over 2 days!
I am so jealous you are in CO! That is one of my top places to visit!
You MUST!!! It is one of my favorite states by FAR!
Glad you got the internet back to working… I seriously flip out when I can’t gain access. Yes issues right there 😉 I am jealousss of your Colorado- trekkin! It’s a state I have always wanted to visit but have yet to do so. I shall one day though!
Right now I am re-reading The Language of Flowers because I blew through it last time and wanted to take it slower to really enjoy the story 🙂 which I loved!
omg it drives me insane, I can only use it sitting next to the modem plugged in! And I have the language of flowers, now I can’t wait to read it!
Glad you made it safely to Colorado! I love that state!
The last road trip I took was last summer; we drove from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh for a friend’s wedding. The six hour drive turned into eight, though, because we kept stopping to get food, ice cream, take pictures, etc!
Haha that’s a great reason for a road trip to last a little longer!
That last picture is especially beautiful! My last big road trip actually was to Colorado last summer. We drove straight-through coming home, all 18 hours – it was rough! My husband has a ton of family there, and we rented a house in Breckenridge for a week with friends. I could live out there, I love it so much.
I’ve seriously considered moving out here!
