Happy Friday! I hope you all had a good week back after the Thanksgiving break! My week has been a bit off, I think I’m just homesick and so ready to get back for Christmas. If we could just fast forward to December 22nd I would be appreciate it, okay? Good.
So every year my mom asks all of us for a Christmas List. She worries about just buying us things that we didn’t ask for, and then having us not like them, so she asks for a very specific list. I finally managed to get mine out to her on Wednesday (it took a lot of research and soul-searching! ha), so I thought I’d share it with all of you so you could get some ideas. (And no, my mom will not be getting me everythign on the list… haha that would be a bit much).
1. Convertible Running Gloves/Mittens
When I’m running in the winter my fingers get numb FAST when I’m wearing gloves, so mittens are best to keep them warm. However, they make it impossible to do anything, especially opening a fuel package or messing with my phone. I thought these gloves would be perfect to keep my fingers warm and allow me to use my fingers when necessary.
I have two pairs of compression sleeves that I found very helpful to keep my calves loser when I’m running long distances. I wanted to give the socks a try as well! Obviously I asked for pink…
3. Running socks.
I used to do my laundry when I ran out of running shorts. Now I do it when I run out of socks. I NEED MORE SOCKS. You can never have enough. And good running socks are expensive! Tons of brands make them, but I took this picture when I was at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Kansas City to give my mom an idea of what to look for.
Need I say more? I own nothing from Lululemon but I would LOVE to!
5. Warm hat with pony tail hole
I have a hat that I’ve worn before (I also wear an ear band, but when it gets really cold a hat is better!), but I want one with a pony tail hole! Otherwise I put my hair up in a bun under the hat and I just look silly…
6. Faded Days Sunglasses (powdered green)
Okay, okay, these have nothing to do with running! But nevertheless they are on my Christmas list (and other than books they are the only non-running related item on my list… hmmm) and I really want them! I don’t buy expensive sunglasses because I always manage to break or lose them, so I thought these would be fun! I saw them first on Julie’s blog, Peanut Butter Fingers!
There are also a lot of great ideas that you might want to ask for, or get for your friends. They just aren’t on my list because I already have them!
Other Good Ideas for Fitness Enthusiasts:
1. Foam Roller
A foam roller is a necessity for all runners, and is great for other kinds of athletes as well. I recommend a high density one, and I’ve also heard ones with knobs and textures are great too! If you search around Amazon you can find some pretty inexpensive ones.
2. Yoga Mat
Another great tool for injury prevention, or for someone who’s just been looking to get into yoga! I have my own mat and I highly recommend getting one, it makes it so much easier, especially if you happen to go to a studio without extras!
These come in really handy when you just don’t have time to make it to the gym! I have these two (above) by Jillian Michaels, but there are many out there! I’ve been thinking about getting a Zumba one!
4. Garmin
So this is a little expensive… but you’ve got the means and someone who’d really like one, a garmin is great for a runner! I have the 305, which I love because I can see my pace, time and distance all on one screen. Also it may look bulky, but I never notice that it’s there! If you’re looking for something smaller or less expensive, they have a lot of options!
5. Headphones
Personally, my headphones are ALWAYS breaking, so they are something that I need all the time. And they’re a great stocking stuffer or more inexpensive gift for friends.

What are you asking for on your Christmas (or Hanukkah) List?
What do you have to run out of before you do your laundry?
so I suck at making Christmas lists even though my fam and the bf always ask for one…I’m just going to direct them to this post, since you nailed it love! We all send our warmest thanks 😉
Haha you are welcome!
A hat with a hole for a pony! That’s the most amazing thing Ive ever seen! I need that. I’m def needing some new socks, check… And a lululemon gift card sounds good too. I love that place. Thanks for the ideas
I know! I’d never seen one until a few months ago, so cool!
I’m hoping to get a crockpot or a food processor, and a new hair straightener. I would love a gift card to Lululemon, though! Great idea. I’ve been wearing the same ratty workout tanks for awhile now and I could use a few new, cute ones!
Haha I think everyone wants the lululemon gift card!
I do my laundry when I run out of underwear :-p
I’m hoping for some lululemon or Sport Chek gift cards for Christmas, I need to stock up on some new workout clothes!
Haha that’s a very good time to do laundry!
Thanks for the link love! Happy Friday — great list!
Thanks, you too!
i would love compression socks as well!
I love my sleeves, so socks are the next step! I hope you get some!
I need some new compression socks. My one pair of sleeves are literally falling apart! Also, cute sunglasses!
Haha I’m afraid that’s what is going to happen to my sleeves! I wear them to bed!
I love your list! Some fitness items I have on my list this year are black yoga pants, Bic Bands, and more workout dvds. I’ve been doing a lot of workout videos lately since I cancelled my gym membership for now (trying to save the $$). They’re a fun way to mix things up and helps me feel challenged a bit more if I’m feeling lazy.
I wish I had more workout DVDs, I just have the 2 and I’m getting tired of doing the same thing over and over for years! haha
Nice list! And nice that your Mom asks for you to make one so that she can get you things you will really love!
She’s a pretty good mom 🙂
I put the three-in-one foam roller Lindsay posted about yesterday on my list, and I’m so excited to get it (I may or may not have told my mom that she needed to tell me if I was going to get it because otherwise I planned on buying it for myself, and since she e-mailed me yesterday saying I didn’t need to buy it, I feel like it’s a safe bet I’ll find it under the tree on Christmas haha). Totally forgot about running socks though! Shoot!
Oh that’s a good one! I’ve just got one big foam roller, and then a hand held one I accidentally left in KC over thanksgiving…
I asked for a Garmin for Christmas this year!
I LOVE my garmin! I hope you get one!
this could easily be my exact christmas list i swear! i love thorlo socks though, that’s probably the only change i would make. i hope you get lots of what you want for christmas!
I’ve never heard of thorlo socks, I’ll have to look them up!
Garmin and foamroller are on my list too. Especially foam roller, I always tell myself I need one but I just never buy one… sigh.
I bought one for myself a while back – best purchase ever!
can i get on that lulu gift card? I say we all need one!
I think lulu should just mail us all some!
Great list! I need to get started on mine, I know I would like a leather biker jacket and some knitware but other than that I don’t know!
I need a leather jacket! Or at least to get the zipper fixed on the one I have…
great ideas! I wrote a similar post and we have a lot of the same things! I need someone to buy me a foam roller for Christmas!
they are great, definitely ask for one!
The foam roller was a GREAT present last week. I love my PINK one 🙂
I’m liking the LULU gift card idea….
Oooo a pink foam roller sounds good to me!
I need new casual tennis shoes bad…so that is what I am asking for this year…plus some other random stuff.
I hope you get some!
It’s funny how, as we age, our Christmas list becomes more of what is practical in our lives as opposed to random fad-ish wants. I like the look of those compression socks, and I don’t even run! My Christmas list has not been organized yet, but a Lulu gift card is definitely on there, as is a food processor!
Very true, I’ve become much more practical over the years!
I want one of those hats with the ponytail opening! so cute. I may just cut a hole in one I already have.
Haha I thought about that but only have one hat, and it’s too nice to cut!
I put a Garmin on my list this year! I usually ask for one “big” item, and that is it.
I hope you get it and enjoy it! I love mine!
A foam roller is definitely on my list. I like those compression socks. I may add that too 🙂
I love my sleeves for long runs, and sleeping in…
Compression socks are on my list too. They are perfect to wear after a long run!
I hope you get some of the things on your list this year! 🙂
