Final Days in Denver

Happy Tuesday! My week is very thrown off, I keep thinking today is Monday because Sunday felt more like a Saturday to me (Sunday Funday…). Anyway, I thought I’d use today’s post to re-cap my last couple days in Denver. With the DU Hockey Game, the Van Gogh exhibit and the Rodeo in our first day and a half, we spent Sunday and Monday doing some more relaxed activities. Don’t you love the kind of friends that you don’t need any schedule of activities but you always manage to have a great time? That’s how these two days were, no real activities but lots of laughs.

This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but we actually spent way too much time entertaining ourselves with Maddie’s cat, LaTarian. His tiny sombrero:

There was also a game on her iPad specifically for cats. This provided way too much entertainment. There’s a little mouse that runs around, and when your cat hits it, it makes a squeek. Also, whenever your cat’s paw touches the screen a paint splotch shows up! Here is LaTarian hard at work:

And his art:

We’re considering selling his pieces. You’d totally buy this, right?

Other activities included checking out a big Whole Foods, Mellow Mushroom for lunch, perusing the GoodWill (don’t ask), and a night of serious fun at a local bar called the Bull and Bush. The crowd was a bit… older than us, but the band was horribly amusing and the place had a fun atmosphere.

For brunch on Monday we went to Snooze. We’d tried to go on Sunday but there was an hour and a half wait. Even on Monday we waited 30 minutes for a table!

It had a really cute retro atmosphere and the food was creative and delicious. Obviously I forgot to take a picture… But they offered gluten free bread, and for the gluten eaters they had a lot of very creative pancakes.

On the way to the airport we stopped at Menchie’s for frozen yogurt. I kid you not, Menchies is by far the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. I thought this over a year ago when I tried it and I confirmed it again yesterday – SO GOOD. The actual froyo is just fluffier, like it’s creamier and almost whipped. It’s so hard to describe. But go.

And then I had a GORGEOUS flight over the mountains to my next location: SAN FRANCISCO! I love these kinds of flights, being up so high and seeing the earth way below always gets you thinking about the bigger picture.

Today I’m off to explore San Francisco! Have a great Tuesday!

  2. Mmm that fro yo looks so good! My favorite app has to be the CTA tracker, it makes my life so much easier waiting for trains and buses. haha :). Have fun in San Francisco.

  3. All of this publicity is really going to my head. I have so many fans. Everyone loves me. Everyone wants to be me. But what can I do, I’m fabulous.

    xoxo, your friend LaTarian.

  4. I loveeeeee menchies! It also happens to be closest to my house of the only 3 fro yo shops in my area! It’s still a 15 min drive but it is worth it! Much better than other places!

    • Lucky!! We have a few in Chicago but they’re in the north suburbs which I never go to. Haha 50 min drive just for froyo is a bit much

  5. Froyo and pancakes??? I’m super jealous now! Two of my favorite things haha…My favorite app is g-whizz so I can sort through my google reader on my phone, I have never seen the Rocky Mountains, and my favorite thing to do with old friends is recreate craziness we had way back when…ie have sleepovers while watching LOTR and eating copious amounts of ice cream, pizza, and chips…good times 😉

  6. Uh! That is so beautiful. I know what you mean, about being up so high and gaining perspective. I’ve hiked in the Rockies and flown over them and lived by them. They are a wonderful mountain range. More interesting than the Appalachians in my opinion. Colorado is so beautiful. I’m envious. Hahahaha! I hope you have fun in San Fran. My bf lives over in that area. I can’t wait to get back over there for a visit. That cat app is too cute! hahaha! I love it!

  7. Ok – that app for cats is awesome! I’m going to have to get my mom to get it for the cats at home!
Menchies is definitely my favorite froyo too -wish there was one in Chicago!
What a pretty picture from your flight – I really want to go out west.
