Whew! I had quite a day in San Francisco and I’ve got even more coming up today. Yesterday I walked about 9 miles, and my feet hurt!
Today’s What I Ate Wednesday is a recap of my day and all the food I ate. If you’re unfamiliar with WIAW, head over to peas and crayons to check it out!
For breakfast we headed to Bette’s diner, my friend is a regular there, so I followed her recommendation and ordered the herb and cheese omelet, it was delicious!
After finding the house from Full House,
my friend dropped me off to explore since she had to work a few hours. On her recommendation I got a cafe au lait from La Boulange.
I knew San Francisco had a lot of hills, but these hills were SO much steeper than I imagined!
Many of the sidewalks had stairs in them because they were so steep!
;
I walked all the way to the water then headed towards Fishermen’s Wharf.
Of course I also stopped at Ghiradelli for a sample:
I also stopped at Boudin for a sourdough bread sample. So good! (Just a bite of glutinous bread doesn’t seem to bother me).
Next I was in search if the “squiggly street” which is a section of Lombard.
And after that it was off to Polk St to walk around. I had lunch there, at I spot I found through Yelp called Square Meals. I got a trio of salads, both gluten free and vegan, and they were absolutely delicious.
There was a David’s Tea right next door so I stopped in for a drink!
From there I headed towards Coit Tower, a large white tower on top of a big hill. A BIG hill! But I made it up there and the view from the tower was spectacular.
From the tower I headed to the Ferry Building to meet up with my friend. We shared a pretzel from Mariposa, a gluten free bakery.
We also sampled a few cheeses and I got these chocolates (not eaten yet).
We headed out to Lands End trail to walk with her dog. I was literally blown away, I felt like I wasn’t even in the US anymore.
After our walk we went to Comstock for a drink. Again, I took my friend’s advice and ordered her favorite drink, which was gin with sugar, lemon and mint.
We dropped her dog off and headed out for dinner. I completely forgot to take a picture but I had a little personal sized Shepherds Pie, very good!
I was pretty much wiped out, it was a long day! Plus more adventures to come today!
Edited to add: I apologize for my slow response to emails, I’m only using my computer to upload pictures and post. I’ll be back at it by Sunday, thank you for your patience!
;
Have you ever been to San Francisco?
;
Are you a fan of walking?
wow! that is so cool you went by the full house house. I definitely need to get my butt there! It looks so beautiful!
So pretty, but you wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from the others without an address! Haha
whew! i am exhausted just READING about all of your walking. i have been to san francisco but i was super young and don’t remember a ton of it but i remember fisherman’s wharf being awesome. i’m jealous of all your travels but i’m living vicariously through you at least!
Haha I can’t even believe I’m here! Dwindling the savings account but worth it for my last winter break ever!
Oh my goodness that salad trio sounds amazing! Looks like a fun time:)
It was delicious! I wish I could recreate it but they didn’t list dressing ingredients!
haha…I loved that you found the full house house! My mom is going there next month. I will have to tell her about some of the restaurants you went to because she said she needed some recommendations.
There are so many great restaurants in San Francisco!
YAY for DAVIDsTEA 🙂 What flavour are you loving?? 😉
I think this one was called Love #7? Not sure but it was so good!
I love SF! I went to most of the same places you visited when I went in 2011, and it makes me wanna go back so badly! Those hills are no joke. I didn’t workout once when I was there 😉
Haha I definitely didn’t work out either, those hills were plenty!
I love everything about this and I’m glad you found the sample. I always stop in for a quick pick me up! That last photo also makes me really happy. You look amazing! The west coast is being good to you.
Looooove the west coast, and the mountains! And the sample was perfect, haha I even tried to act surprised when they offered it to me, as though I didn’t go in there solely for it…
Holy cow lady – talk about a full day! Sounds like you got the full San Fransisco experience! I’ve always wanted to go – love that you found the Full House house!
Finding the Full House house was pretty high on my To-Do list!
I love San Fran!!! I went with my aunt when I was 16 for the first time and I wanted to see the Full House house so badly or at least reenact the park scene from the opening credits but both got vetoed!
haha I wanted to find that park too!
Wow, what a day you had! That’s the way to do it though, just walk around and try to see as much as possible. It looks so neat in San Fran. I’ve never been but I’d love to go one day and see those beautiful cliffs over the ocean! So pretty.
The cliffs were gorgeous, I had no idea that park would be there right in downtown!
Looks like you had a great trip!
Question: Were you walking around with someone else after your friend dropped you off? Or did you get random people to take your picture? 😀
You saw some great things. Full House is up there on that list. As well as the steps on the sidewalk. Awesome. Great food too! A gluten-free pretzel sounds good right now, and that salad trio looks like it would have been tasty.
Haha totally asked random people to take my picture!
I’m seriosuly SO over you being gone.
Right? Seriously.
I’ve wanted to go to San Fran for such a long time, it looks beautiful! I’m glad you’re having fun!
I’ve always wanted to go too, I’m glad I bit the bullet and went for it!
Oh man, this looks like such a fun trip! I’ve never been to San Francisco (or California, period), but if I ever do make it to San Francisco, the Full House will definitely be on my list of sights to see. That, and just about anything from The Princess Diaries haha.
I thought about the Princess Diaries as I was walking around, I wish I’d looked up a few of the locations, like their school!
Wow it looks like you had a ton of fun! I am so jealous of that gluten-free pretzel!!!! I guess that’s my next stop 🙂
Definitely go! And I LOVED the pretzel, hadn’t had one in ages!
Wow!! Your San Fran pics are so amazing!! I am vey jealous you got to see {and eat} so many great things. It’s definitely one of my favorite cities!
I’m so glad I finally got to visit! I can see why you like it!

That looks so much fun! I’d love to visit San Francisco one day although those steep streets look a bit scary!
Going down was definitely scary!

San Fran is SO FUN!! I went for the Nike half and fell in love with the city! I love being able to walk everywhere!!
OMG, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE San Francisco! My husband and I were just there in September for our 1st wedding anniversary! It was my second visit and I am excited to go back again soon! We did a lot of walking as well and visited most of the places you did. Gosh I love that city and I was really excited to see the pictures and that you went!
I love seeing pictures of places I’ve been before! I’m glad you liked San Francisco as well!
I have been to SF twice & LOVED it!! Looks like you’re enjoying some great sights & great eats. Rocket Boat is really fun if you want to zoom around the wharf & under the Bay Bridge. Also, you should check out Dottie’s Cafe for breakfast or Farm Table. Soooo good!!! Oh, & Ike’s is great for amazing sandwiches. 😉 Wish I was in SF right now! Have fun!!
Haha I’ll have to try those next time I go back!
Your trip looks like so much fun! I’ve never been to San Fran (except for in the airport) but I’ve always wanted to go! So cool you got to see the full house home!
I am incredibly jealous. I want to visit San Fran badly. It’s my top place to go visit in the US right after NYC.
Ahhh the Full House house… love that you saw that! I know I have said this already but San Francisco is a city I want to visit sooo so badly and I am hecka jealous Katie! Thank you for sharing your experience there, the pictures are great girl
I have never been to San Francisco, but would love to go one day!
I do enjoy walking, especially when it’s a beautiful day or when it’s with someone. I’m not sure about 9 miles of walking! Wow, that is a lot! My feet would hurt too!
Enjoy your adventures! 🙂
I didn’t even realize it was so far! I was too distracted by wanting to see everything!
I’ve always wanted to go to San Francisco! It looks so pretty there.
I love a bit of walking! I live in Swansea in the UK for a year for University…I’ve never been to San Fran but it’s safe to say this place is even hillier! Looks like your having such fun!
