Hey everyone! I hope you’re all having a great weekend, Molly and I sure are! My brother and sister-in-law are out of town for a while, so I’m staying with Molly and, well, being her personal entertainer.
I looked quite ridiculous carrying all my stuff over, and this was just enough for 2 days! I had to bring my school stuff, my “gear bag” for after the 20 miler (I’ll explain tomorrow) and my foam roller! All so I wouldn’t have to keep going back and forth between my apartment and theirs.
When I got to their apartment, I had a surprise waiting for me! Brooks send me a pair of Ghost 5 running shoes!!! I won’t be using them for the marathon since I’d feel more comfortable in the Asics I’ve been running in this past week (they’re the exact same as the shoes I’ve been training in all summer), but I’ve been walking around in them all day and love them!
Even Molly approves.
Friday night I headed out for drinks with Linsday, Kelsey and Kim! The three of us and Lindsay’s boyfriend went to see a show at Second City. Kelsey’s boyfriend was a writer! It was waaaaay past my bedtime (the show started at 10:30!) but I was so glad I went, I had a great time with them!
When I got home I woke poor Molly up!
However when I tried to go to bed, she was not having it!
We were up bright and early Saturday morning to go meet Cate on the lakeshore path. She was doing her 20 mile training run, so Molly and I ran with her for about a mile.
We also ate a spider on the window sill.
For dinner I went to Mista to grab one of their “cracker crust” pizzas. They have gluten free! I was excited to try it but pretty disappointed when I got it home. If you’ve been following a while, you know I used to make “pizzas” on brown rice tortillas quite often. Well, their gluten free “crus” was the exact same tortilla that I use at home. In other words, I paid $12 for a pizza I’ve made myself several times… Party. Foul.
My plan for this evening is to get to bed early since I have an early wake up call: the Newton 20 Miler! It’s my 20 mile training run and I have to say I’m pretty nervous about it. Not the distance, but the fear that some injury will pop up, forcing me to stop. I want to finish this run so badly! I’ll take as many prayers as I can get!
Have a great Sunday!
I like your Ghosts! I had a pair of Ghost 4s and they were awesome. A bit slap-happy compared to other shoes, but they’re good for your feet. I too prefer Asics, but Brooks knows how to build a stellar shoe. Happy running!
Good luck tomorrow!! I’m sending you mental shielding powers to keep the injuries at bay!
Also, my dog tries to catch and eat all sorts of bugs too. It never fails to make me laugh, especially because they usually counteract to startle her in someway and she retreats before going back with more intense curiosity before she eats them. I love that she loves playing with her food as much as I do! 🙂
PS. Super cute shoes! Glad they’re comfy!!
Thanks, Chelsie! Haha and Molly does the same with bugs!
Ugh, I hate food disappointments, especially pizza. Hope the 20 miler went awesome!
Hope the run went well! Molly is SO adorable. I have puppy fever so badly but now’s not the time for me to my own dog. I would love to puppy sit right now! I need to make friends with more people who have dogs. 🙂
I’m sure you’re currently doing your run… I hope it’s going well!
I survived it! haha
holy shiz that looks good, I have yet to try a gluten free pizza.
well it wasn’t gluten free pizza is the thing, as I said they used a tortilla and not actual crust, which is what I make myself all the time.
Good luck. Mollie is a cute dog.
I knowww you are going to rock tomorrow’s run, I believe in you and that’s really all that matters anyway 😉 Seriously though, don’t fret and think of how accomplished you will feel after! That marathon has nothing over you!
I can’t wait to hear how your 20 miler went! I was thinking about you and all your fellow marathoners all weekend and hope you all had awesome runs 🙂
Looooove the shoes, too! I injured myself in Brooks so it’ll take a lot to get me back in them (especially with that dangerous grey material…this girl cannot handle arch support in Brooks!), but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate a pretty pair of running shoes 😉 Solid choice to not run the marathon in them, though. This would be a craptastic time to try to break in a new pair of shoes. Plus, I don’t know about you, but the promise of new shoes would definitely motivate me to run a marathon haha.
That’s too bad that you got injured in them! And the run went well, but not super awesome. I was just so glad I ran it without injury!
Ascis are my favorite type of running shoe! I always find them to be the most comfortable and hold up the best. Hope your run went well!
I didn’t know you liked eating spiders!!!
Um who doesn’t? Crunchy,
