Goooooood Morning! (afternoon/evening?) I hope you all have been having a good week! And if not, you’ve almost made it to the weekend! I’m super excited for this weekend because 1) I have blogger book club, 2) I’m running the Thriller Schiller 5K (still need a costume…) and 3) I’M MOLLY-SITTING!!!!! Who doesn’t love a weekend full of Molly, right? Now, on to this week’s Thursday Thoughts!
1. I’ve been wanting candy corn but I didn’t want to buy a whole bag because I knew I ‘d end up eating it all in like 2 days… So I decided to beat the system and go to a bulk candy store near me. Best. Idea. Ever. I got my candy corn fix and a couple other fun candies.
2. I got a package from Premier Protein! I couldn’t eat any of the bars since they have soy protein in them, but I did take one of the drinks and left the rest of it to my brother. They’re great to bring to a workout where I know I won’t be able to gelt home and fuel afterwards. I tried the chocolate drink this week and it was SO GOOD! It tasted like chocolate milk!
3. I am obsessed with the Glee version of Mariah Carey’s “How Will I know.” I literally have had it on repeat all week. Mostly because I wish I could sing that great.
4. Julie from Peanut Butter Fingers inspired me to try a lip color. I am a Cherry Chapstick girl at heart, but I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately the one I bought is more a stain than a lipstick, but I like it!
5. On Tuesday morning I decided to go on a long run since I didn’t do one this past weekend and I won’t do one this upcoming weekend. It was so foggy out that the entire city was missing! Even when I got miles closer you couldn’t see it!
Tuesday vs. Sunny Day:
6. On that same run I finally wore my Chicago Marathon shirt! Too bad it was so foggy no one saw it… haha.
7. One more – after that run I realized I’d injured my left IT band. My knee HURTS. Whenever I walk I feel it. I’ve been stretching and foam rolling like crazy but it’s bad. Weirdly I’m not super upset… probably because I don’t have a marathon coming up this time!
8. Don’t forget to send me your link ups if you want to participate in my book review on Monday! Dark Places by Gillian Flynn! If you don’t have a blog and want to participate, either post your review in the comments section, or email it to me and if I get a reasonable number (not too many) I’ll put them up in the post!
Do you wear lipstick, or just gloss/chapstick?
Are you a Candy Corn fan??
oh no not the it band again! i’m sorry you’re hurt that is no fun at all although it’s amazing how differently you feel about it now that you’re not training for the marathon. good luck with the foam rolling and the stretching! i’ve been feeling the same glute/hamstring pain i was feeling before i started doing yoga and realized that even though i’m not training i should probably still be stretching a whole lot more than i am. i need to rededicate myself a a stretching routine.
Lol yes, I need to keep up with all the stretching and rolling I did pre-marathon, or even more so now that my legs are recovering AND doing boot camp!
I did the same thing when I bought candy corn a few weeks ago! Bulk stores are fantastic for my sweet tooth.
I almost never wear colored gloss on my lips, and I never wear lipstick. I don’t know why but it just intimidates me and I think I look ridiculous. Haha. Maybe I’ll get the courage one day. Also my lips chap easily. I’m all about clear glosses with lots of moisture!
I always thought so too, but I liked this color!
Aww :(. I hope your it band gets better. Last winter I suffered from an it band injury and I did some physical therapy. I’m not a huge fan of candy corn but I don’t mind having a few pieces. I prefer Chapstick. Happy almost weekend!
I about cried when I saw that some candy corn has egg whites in it– what? why is that necessary??!? I don’t think it’s an ingredient in all brands/shapes but why??
How crazy was the weather on Tuesday? I ran early and it was dark so it looked the same as every time I run but it was so humid and there were few runners out. It was creepy.
I’m sorry about your IT band! I hope it gets better soon. It sounds like you’re taking care of it though 🙂
WHAT?!?! That’s just rude. Why would they put egg whites in candy corn!?!?
Definitely love candy corn! I did the wrong things and bought an entire bag…yep, gone in like 2 days! I love every song that is on Glee!! Hope your IT band shapes up fast 🙂
Thanks! And it’s so hard to control ourselves around candy corn – it’s addicting!
I absolutely love candy corn, but I only get my fix when I go to my mom’s house. I’m like you-I would eat the whole bag in no time!
I wish I could wear lipstick, I feel like I look like a hooker anytime I wear it so chapstick it is.
I got premeire protein a few months ago-I thought everything was just OK, the bars were really heavy and kinda just sat in the ole stomach for hours…
well you look like a hooker all the time so… HA. Not. Try it! I thought I looked ridic but I liked this color.
Good luck rehabing the IT band! Hope it feels better soon.
I love candy corn! I’m just like you. I can’t buy an entire bag because I know that it will be gone in a few days. That’s a good idea to go to a bin though, I’d just written it off.
Coming to your blog from Best Body Bootcamp FB group! I LOVE candy corn and I have been avoiding buying a whole bag bc its too much. Love your idea of just getting a small fix! Hope your knee feels better soon 🙂
Thanks, Patty!
I will probably not finish the book by monday but I am getting that book this weekend. i need a new read. I wish I had a bulk candy store near me. they are my favorite for that reason exactly
I bet there are some – just google it!
I’m definitely more of a chapstick person. Every once in awhile I’ll brave it and do some more color with a bright lip gloss or lipstick, but it’s very rare!
And oh yes, do I love candycorn! Just last night I had a few too many handfuls… Oops.
Haha, I’d have too many bagfuls if I bought it!
So I didn’t really exactly review Dark Places in my post today, but I talked about it, so consider this my half-effort at giving you the link to my to half-effort review. Haha.
Anyway, Tuesday was crazy! Even though I had my shades closed I could tell it was darker than normal when I woke up, which I thought was so strange…until I went out into my living room and realized I was living in a cloud. I don’t remember the last time I saw that thick of fog!
The status of my injured foot has been somewhat questionable all week, which is probably bad news bears since I injured it over a month ago, and it probably shouldn’t still be flaring up…yeah. But honestly, it doesn’t really bug me that much (mentally, that is. Physically it definitely bugs me…but only when I’m Best Body Bootcamp-ing. Maybe it is actually a mental thing then, haha). If I had to pick a time to be injured, that time would be right now. Getting injured now gives me more than enough time to heal and get back to where I want to be before I need to start training for next running season.
The top of my foot flared up again too! It was fine until my 8 mile run. And e-mail me the link if you want me to post it!
Yahhh, Tuesday was a stay at home in sweatpants day for me hahahaa! I am definitely a lip stain/ gloss kinda girl. The gloss thing always seems to get my hair stuck to my lips! So, if I find a stain I like I usually do that then top it with a Burt’s Bees sorta stick. My life does not promote much “doing up” so it is a rare day I’d even go that far! Take care of your IT and may it feel better soon!
lol me too, I wear workout clothes at least 4 days at week if not more!
Cheers to that!
I usually just wear chapstick or lip gloss, but I’d love to try a darker color too. Maybe for the holidays!
Give it a try, I was surprised!
Ha! I actually ordered a red lipstick last week and just picked it up this morning! Of course, I’m still in my pj’s and I totally put it on. LOVE IT!
Haha I put mine on all the time now, even if I’m in workout clothes for the day!
Also, keep foam rolling the quads & hamstrings, and stretch your hips. If the IT band still hurts after a few days, I’d see doc 🙁
I like lip color when I have a fun outfit on. It’s nice to ‘dress’ up pretty 🙂
Thanks Annette! I’ll do that, I don’t roll my quads or hamstrings often.
I’m definitely a lipstick girl but I have a strategy.. I blot it on lightly and then go over it with a sheer gloss!
I feel like candy corn is a really dividing food 🙂 I am a total non-fan.
love your upbeat attitude this whole post made me smile
I’m glad I could make you smile, even though you don’t like one of my favorite candies… haha
Is it wrong of me to rock my Chicago shirt with pride even though I didn’t run the race? hehe…
And GENIUS on the candy corn thing! That could save me lots of excess cc eating. Now where is there a bulk candy store around me? Must. Find.
haha rock away! And google it, I found a bunch I didn’t know existed! Dangerous…
I’m a gloss girl. I wish I wore lipstick!
Be cool like me! If you dare…
Those photos are both beautiful – in the fog and in the sun! It looks like such a cool place to go running.
I love the marathon shirt! Whenever I wear a race shirt I feel so proud the entire time… and I doubt anyone else even notices that I have it on, lol.
Haha that’s why I wanted to wear the marathon shirt soon – at least other people who ran would recognize it!
oh no!! i’m sooo sorry to hear about ur darn IT Band, keep doing ur TLC for it and i wish u a speedy recovery. but it’s really great u’ve got the right attitude and aren’t stressing too horribly, thankfully there isn’t a marathon to be gunning for!
okay, i like candy corn but i’m more of a chocolate gal, pass me the baby twixes (i dunno the plural..lol) and kit kats! oh and 3 musketeers too! 🙂
I’m more of a lip balm girl myself (especially Carmex). I don’t wear much makeup at all, actually, unless I want to get fancy — and then I usually just swipe on lipstick and mascara. I did, however, favor bright red lipstick during my dramatic years.
As for candy, Reese’s PB cups are my favorite … but I’ll eat pretty much any of it — and once I start, I can’t/don’t want to stop. (So I try not to start.)
Gosh, isn’t it a shame that fog and overcast can completely change the scenery?! It definitely effects the enjoyment of outdoor running when it’s dark and gloomy out, at least for me. Good job getting out there despite the fog though!
