Bar Review!

No, no, no! Not the Bar exam to become a lawyer! (Which I’m sure ALL of you were thinking…) I’m talking about bars that you eat! Over the past few weeks I’ve tried out several new types of bars for my afternoon snack at work, and I thought I’d share my thoughts on many of them with you!

First off, a “new to me” flavor of Larabar: Cappucinno!

This one actually really did taste like coffee, and it was the perfect bar for an afternoon when I felt like I wanted some coffee but 1) didn’t want to go get some and 2) didn’t want the extra caffeine that late in the day!

I also tried the cashew cookie flavor, which I also thought was good but maybe not my favorite. It was pretty basic and simple, and sometimes I’m in the mood for a little more flavor!

I also tried one of their new Uber bars. I realize these have been out for a while… but I’m a little behind on this one.

I really liked it! One thing I don’t like about Larabars is that usually I want a little crunch and they rarely have any! This was the perfect combo of the nutrition and simplicity of a Larabar, but with some added crunch!

Another bar I tried was the ProBar Fruition bar! It’s actually about the same as a Larabar in that it doesn’t have much crunch, and is more blended and made into a bar. They do have more ingredients than a Larabar, but they are all healthy looking to me!

I loved the peach flavor and they have a lot of other simple flavors that sound delicious and I’d love to try! A few are Lemon, Strawberry and Chocolate Orange!

Probar makes several other kinds of bars, but most of them seem to have either soy or wheat in them, so I can’t try them but they sure look good!

Another new bar that I’ve tried is by Two Degrees, which are all vegan and gluten free. They have 4 flavors and I’ve sampled 3 of them! My FAVORITE was Chocolate Banana (un-pictured), but I also liked the Apple Pecan:

I also tried the Cherry Almond but was not a fan. There were puffs in it (maybe millet?) and they kind of took over the bar.

The great thing about Two Degrees is that for every bar you buy, they donate a meal to a hungry child! How cool is that? I love companies with a greater mission!

Last, but definitely not least, is KIND bars!

I’ve actually been eating KIND Bars since October, when I found out about my gluten and soy intolerance. I’m a HUGE fan and have tried several flavors! There are SO MANY flavors though I can’t keep up with trying them all! I actually just checked out the website and saw several new ones that sound amazing!

Um, yes please!?!?!

I am in love.

Have you tried any of these bars?

Do you like using granola bars as a snack? I always have one on me just in case!

  1. the cappuccino larabar is definitely one of my top favorite larabars! i REALLY like the uber larabars – quite possibly even more than the originals. the rolled nuts and bananas foster were my two favorite uber larabars. i LOVE kind bars too! i need to try out that dark chocolate nuts & sea salt one!

  2. I haven’t tried Two Degrees or Kind. I’ve been looking for new granola bars because I’m finally getting sick of my Cliff Kid Zbars! I unfortunately don’t like Lara Bars at all – I must just not like dates, which is what they use to make them (I think).

  3. I started eating Kind bars last week. So far coconut almond is my favorite flavor. I had a Kind bar years ago and thought it was awful (can’t remember what flavor) but for some reason I decided to give it another try. So glad I did!

  4. Oh WOW those new Kind bars do indeed sound delicious! The first one with sea salt… oh my word, I know I would like that a whole lot. Thank you for the review on the other bars as well! I haven’t tried that new Lara bar, but i am always looking for new choices. I tend to stick to favorites, which is fine of course, but I do like to know what else is out there!

  5. I’m such a bar addict! It’s ridiculous!
Kind Bars are definitely my favorite of the ones you’ve mentioned here. And those flavors sound amazing! Of course, I’ll always be a huge fan of Luna Bars as well. But, when I need something with more protein I’ve been eating PureFit Bars! They’re vegan/gluten free and delicious!

  6. I’m not a big bar eater and am so with you on needing some crunch, but I do really like the KIND bars. They are the perfect bar for non-energy-bar eaters! They don’t have that super processed taste that a lot of the bars have. Dark choco nuts and sea salt sounds AMAZING.
