Illinois Attorney Faces Child Porn Allegations

A Chicago attorney faces serious allegations after a tip led police to his residence, where both videos and photographs depicting child pornography were found.

Summary: A Chicago attorney faces serious allegations after a tip led police to his residence, where both videos and photographs depicting child pornography were found.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that an attorney was charged on Tuesday after a search revealed a collection of child pornography in the attorney’s home.

Last year, a teenage girl was charged with child pornography crimes.

James Crowley, a 36-year-old resident of Arlington Heights, has been charged with one felony count of possession of child pornography, Captain Miguel Hernandez of the Arlington Heights police department stated.

After receiving a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Cook County, authorities investigated. The tip was submitted through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

The former head of cyber security at the Department of Health and Human Services was convicted of child porn enterprise.

Police linked the IP address from the tip to Crowley’s home. During the search of his residence, police seized a laptop, external hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and jump drives. Most of these items contained images of child pornography. The Chicago Tribune reported that some of the images depicted children engaged in oral and genital sex with other children. Most children depicted were under 13 years old. According to the Daily Herald, 500 photographs and 50 videos were found in these devices.

In 2013, Internet search engines implemented measures to remove child pornography.

Crowley works as an attorney in Chicago. He appeared in bond court on Wednesday, and was held on a $100,000 bond. His next hearing is scheduled for July 17 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
