The Beastie Boys have filed another lawsuit in their fight with Monster’s unauthorized use of the band’s music, according to Rolling Stone.
The new lawsuit asks for $2.4 million more in restitution.
In June of 2014, a court ruled in favor of the band. The jury then awarded the band $1.7 million in the case. The band now claims that they lost money after paying for a large lawyer bill due to the evasive legal techniques used by Monster.
Because of this, The Beastie Boys are asking for Monster to pay for some of this bill.

“Monster’s tactics significantly increased the costs for Beastie Boys to vindicate their intellectual property rights, such that, absent an award of attorney’s fees and costs, plaintiff’s success at trial would become a Pyrrhic victory,” the legal team for the band wrote in the latest filing.
Monster’s attorneys did not comment on the new lawsuit.
Monster has been accused of failing to engage in good-faith negotiations in the new lawsuit. The company has also been accused of trying to overturn the verdict, which led to an appeal that caused more legal bills for the Beastie Boys.
The band and Monster have been fighting legally for more than two years, but the trial lasting just eight days.

During the trial, Monster admitted to using parts of four songs recorded by the Beastie Boys. Those four songs include “Sabotage,” “So What’cha Want,” Make Some Noise” and “Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun.”
The company used parts of these four songs for a promotional video that was posted online for five weeks. The band wanted $2.5 million for copyright infringement, but Monster said it should only have to pay $125,000.
A condition in the will of the late Adam “MCA” Yauch says that the band cannot license their music to endorse products. This has led them to pursue litigation against anyone who uses their songs commercially without their permission.
The Beastie Boys sued GoldieBlox for using the song “Girls” in an advertisement. The two settled for an unknown amount of money.

After being awarded $1.7 million from Monster, Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz said, “We’re happy. We just want to thank the jury.”
Monster has also been sued by Capitol Records and Universal-Polygram International Publishing since the verdict in June for the company using the Beastie Boys’ music.
