Hey everyone! Thanks for your sweet comments about my new header – today I’m changing it a bit by adding a holiday theme. I think what I like about this plain white header is that I can add little things to fit the season if I want to!
Today I wanted to do a “Currently” survey. I’ve seen it on a few blogs, but mostly on Nicole’s blog, The Marvelous Misadventures of a Foodie. Since I think she’s super cool, I’m going to copy her and do the survey!
Loving: SNOW! I know it can be a pain, but for someone who doesn’t have to drive anywhere (aka dig out a car or deal with traffic) it’s mostly a blessing. I just love when it’s snowing at night and it feels like you’re in a whole different world.
Reading: I just finished reading The Dinner by Herman Koch.
I saw the book on Peanut Butter Fingers and since I usually like Julie’s recommendations I thought I’d give it a try, especially since I managed to get it free from the library. Well… I didn’t like it at all. I forced myself to finish thinking I’d like the ending, but nope. The book was written in an interesting way, going back and forth between a dinner at a fancy restaurant with two brothers and their wives, to events leading up to that dinner. However, I just didn’t like the characters and for me that’s a big part of the story.
Next up I’m not sure what I’m going to read! Any good recommendations? I have a few books left from when Chelsey and I exchanged books (oh… a year ago). So I might read one of those (haha, again, free!) until Christmas when I think I’ll get a few from Santa.
Watching: Pretty Little Liars. It’s an illness. Seriously. If I have a free evening, come 5pm I am in my apartment binge watching PLL until it’s time to go to bed. I watch it on Netflix on my Kindle so I can just have it near me when I’m making dinner, cleaning up, or working on my computer. I’m already on Season 3…
Besides that, I’m forming a list of Christmas movies that I NEED to watch! How have I not watched any this year? My favorites are Elf, Home Alone, The Santa Clause and How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
Anticipating: GOING HOME!!! I am so excited to head home for the holidays! Although, I’m not going to lie, I’m a liiiiitle nervous about the road trip home. I am a huge fan of road trips, but I’m used to driving a good bit, or at the very least sitting up front. It will be interesting to see how I handle 8 hours in the back seat with this one sitting on top of me:
Good thing she’s cute.
Listening to: Pandora Glee Holiday Station! Need I say more?
Planning: a few holiday get-togethers! When I’m home in Kansas City I always try to get together with friends and family who live there, but since it’s Christmas there are a LOT of people home! I’m planning a reunion of my best friends from grade school; coffee with my aunt and cousins; a “Girls Night Out” with my mom, her friends and their daughters; and I’m sure plenty more on top of the other holiday parties and Christmas family events I have!
My BFFs from back in the day!
Working on: My job search…
Wishing: That I get a job? Hahahaha that was easy! I actually have one job that I applied to at the end of last week that I’m just DYING to get an interview for. Would it be considered stalking if I just sit outside their building?.. Hmmm.
Sipping on: fancy coffee drinks! I used to only order coffee with a “splash” of milk added, but since doing Jamie’s Intuitive Eating Challenge, I’ve loosed up quite a bit and order more fun coffee drinks when I’m in the mood. Has anyone tried Starbucks’s Gingerbread Latte? Heaven. Seriously.
Your turn! Answer one of the questions above!
What’s your favorite holiday movie? What’s your favorite drink to order when you’re getting coffee?
I’m job searching too, and wishing that I find something. Everyone keeps telling me that the market is tough right now, so that makes me feel better. I hope that you get the interview for the job that you want!
I volunteered on Monday with a woman who worked for 8 years in a big law firm and hasn’t been able to find a job… haha so I know it’s not just me!
No, it’s not! The market’s just terrible!
I love the new header! And the little Christmas addition is super cute. Fingers crossed that you get that interview!
Thanks, Sam!
Have you read “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern? It is such a beautifully written book with a wonderful storyline. I hate when I hate books that everyone else loves (like The Time Traveler’s Wife? Never understood the love behind that one).
I haven’t read the Night Circus but it’s on my “to read” list!
Listening to: Tran-Siberian Orchestra (Holiday) radio on Pandora! I love them!
I love the holiday spin you put on your header – so cute!
Ah I love Tran-Siberian Orchestra too!
My favorite Christmas movie is It’s a Wonderful Life. It makes me cry everytime I watch it.
I’ve never seen that – I’ll have to watch it!
loved this babe 😀 do more <3 <3 <3 <3 i love knowing what my Katie loves <3 great pic of Molly <3
Thanks, Meg!
I’ve been loving the snow too! It’s definitely been a pain to drive (especially since they don’t plow my neighborhood…at least until the snow finally stops which is annoying) BUT I love sitting on the couch next to the lit christmas tree with a cup of coffee or hot tea and watching it snow. Sigh… 🙂
They don’t plow my neighborhood at home in KC either, which can be a pain!
I feel you on the job thing. I’m dropping to part-time student as I’ve finished nearly all my coursework. I teach a few hours a week at a dance studio but since my schedule is opening up…I need to make money lol.
I h net tried the gingerbread latte! I keep meaning to but I’m so stuck on my iced peppermint mocha coffee!
Definitely try the gingerbread latte, so worth it!
There are too many good Christmas movies to pick a favorite! We did watch The Santa Clause last night and that is WAYYY up there on my list. I also love the old school claymation movies like “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”!
Oh I love the claymation movies too!!! so cute!
YAY!! I love that you’re doing this! Currently is my favorite 🙂
Sometimes it’s crazy how much of the same stuff we like – I’ve been listening to the SAME Pandora station (obviously).
The holiday twist on the header is ADORABLE! I like the all while look. I want to do a bit of an overhaul on my site and go with a cleaner look too. If only blog designs didn’t cost so dang much..
I just finished reading Pushing The Limits by Katie McGarry and I really liked it – such a good love story that has you hooked 🙂
Haha my blog design was free!!!
I love the new header too–so so fun! And the holiday twist is a blast 🙂
I am anticipating going home too. YAY!
Yay for going home! Hope your trip went safely!
just black coffee here 😉 boring, but our favorite!
can’t wait to start watching Christmas movies like Elf and Home Alone 🙂
Haha as long as you love the black coffee!
So thanks for getting me ADDICTED to Pretty Little Liars! I am traveling this week read this post this morning and decided to start it on the plane! I. Cannot. Stop! Thanks for the suggestion!!!
Haha right? I can’t stop!
Love the header! I have not heard of Pretty Little Liars, will have to watch out for it coming to the UK. I’m currently anticipating my office Christmas Party tonight. I can’t wait!
Oh fun, I hope your Christmas party went well!
I love love love the new look and the fact that you can customize it! You’re like Google. So fancy!
Haha I love that! It is like Google!!
I love the new header- especially the Willis dressed up for Christmas like in real life! 🙂
Yes – I wanted to add the lights at the top!
I’m about to begin the job search process too. It’s scary but I have hope that something is out there. 🙂 Also, I feel like we’re similar in a lot of these things. I read ‘The Dinner’ too and felt the exact same way. I liked the first 1/4 of the book then I started hating it and didn’t know if I’d be able to finish. I have the same opinion of Pretty Little Liars too. Someone mentioned that I might like it (this past summer) and I gave it a shot on Netflix. I think I had the entire collection finished by the beginning of September (and I started at the beginning of August!) Such a great show! It sucks you in!
