Dems in South Carolina Protest Voter ID law to DOJ

The Democrats in the state Senate of South Carolina filed an objection for the rejection of the state’s new voter identification law. They argued that the present law is too restrictive and may disenfranchise African Americans and elderly voters. The present voter id law clearly says that a voter must have both a valid and current form of identification. Because of this voters with suspended or revoked licenses may lose the chance to vote as they do not have any other form of identification. 30 US states require voters to present some form of ID at the polls, including 14 states that require photo ID.
