Summary: A group protesting the NYPD by burning a U.S. flag gets scared off by a biker gang defending the flag and what it stands for.
What started out as a flag-burning protest of NYPD policies, ended up with the very protesters being saved by the police they were criticizing. The few dozen members of the Disarm the Police had announced they were going to burn the flag at Fort Greene Park on social media as a form of protest of the NYPD policies. This drew an even larger gathering of counter protesters waving flags. Some of those flag-wavers were members of the biker gang, Hallowed Sons Motorcycle Club.
Fort Greene Park does not allow anything to be openly burned but the rules allow for cooking to be done in closed barbecue grills so the protesters brought a tiny grill to use. When they started burning the flag, a biker quickly ran forward and kicked the grill over. He doused the flag while the other pro-flag supporters chanted “USA! USA!”
From there the gathering turned violent with the bikers trying to rough the protesters up. The flag-burning group quickly ran away into the protecting arms of the NYPD, where they were escorted out of the park.
No arrests were made in the scuffle.

Nice to see that the cops did the right thing and didn’t shoot anyone who was rushing towards them in a dangerously unarmed manner.

only because others are committing violence on their behalf.” You, sir,
are a knucklehead, but feel free to be knuckleheaded with impunity, since you
are under the protection of constitutional guarantees, backed up by a police
and military, that, while far from perfect, are ultimately under civilian
control. Kids, don’t try this at home if you live in China, Russia, Turkey, or
the ISIS Caliphate (air quotes supplied). Sorry to be so impolite; what I meant
to say was: I think you are missing the point.
