I was provided with a FitBit One by Verizon Wireless to borrow and review, product was returned. As always, all opinions are entirely my own.
I’m sure you’ve all heard of many different activity trackers out there, anywhere from Garmins, heart-rate monitors, and those that you wear all day, like FitBit and Body Media Armbands.
Well, I was given the opportunity to use a FitBit One Wireless Activity Tracker for a couple of weeks and since I’d been really curious about them, I thought I might as well give it a try! Plus Sierra is a big fan!

Once I had the fitbit, setting it up was a lot easier than I expected. You just turn it on and sync it to the profile you create on Fitbit.com. You can easily sync the information your fitbit is collecting by using the Wireless Sync Dongle (lol funny word) in your USB port. I loved this feature because if I was wearing it under clothes in class, I could just sync it without having to take off my fit bit.
Not only that, but you can wirelessly since your fitbit with your smart phone! This I really love because I’m practically attached to my iPhone (probably not a good thing…) so I loved being able to use my phone’s blue tooth feature to sync wirelessly.
The FitBit One is worn all day and tracks your steps, distance, calories burned and stairs climbed.
It was pretty interesting to me, since I’m a big numbers person, to check it throughout the day. It definitely encouraged me to be more active (walk more and take the stairs more) because I could see how much I was moving throughout the day.
My favorite part however was how it tracks your sleep cycle. You wear it in a special bracelet and it tracks your movement, making note of when you’re restless and when you actually get up in the middle of the night.
The fitbit has an online dashboard where you see all of your information, and you can also track the calories that you’ve eaten, although I chose not to take advantage of that aspect.
My only problem with the fitbit was my own inability to remember to wear it! There were many days where I’d head to the gym or off to school completely forgetting to put it on. I think I’d remember it more if it were a more permanent part of my routine, or if I really needed to track my activity and calories.
If you’re interested in getting an activity tracker I definitely recommend the FitBit, I enjoyed using it! And, you can even find the FitBit in Verizon Stores!
Have you ever used any kind of activity tracker?
What would you be most interested to know about?
Id love love love one to track my SLEEP and steps.
LOVE.
especially the sleep 🙂
yep, I was most excited about the sleep! I was so curious!
I would just be interested to see how many calories I burned during the day without working out or making an effort.
yea I was interested in that too!
ooooh how fun!! i really want to get one but wish they weren’t so expensive!
I know, I was sad to send it back!
I saw other bloggers reviewing it and thought that it seemed really cool! I’d be interested to try it sometime. Too bad that you had to give it back!
I know, I was sad to have to send it back!
I like the sleep tracker option! I wouldn’t really like to know calories burned and all that jazz- too much pressure!
lol I got really competitive with myself on stairs! I took the stairs way more when I was wearing that. Back to my lazy elevator self 🙂
Both my mom and sister have one and they love it! My sister wears it so much, she forgot to take it off through airport security and got patted down!
hahaha I’d probably forget too if I wore it all the time!
Is it waterproof? That would keep me from taking it off…
online it says that it’s splash proof, but shouldn’t be submerged more than 1 meter. In other words, I wouldn’t wear it swimming!
That sounds soo interesting! I’d love to see all the numbers too but I could see myself getting really carried away with it. Was it bulky to work out with?
no not bulky at all! It was only weird to find somewhere to put it if I was wearing a dress. It ended up on the side of my bra a few times… haha.
I’d probably choose to avoid the calorie intake tracking, but everything else about the fitbit looks really cool! I feel like I could really use the sleep application, particularly – since I started working full time my sleep has definitely suffered.
Yea I was really curious about my sleep because I feel like I am a restless sleeper!
I will keep that in mind 🙂 It sounds awesome
Haha good, it was fun to use!
Tracking sleep is really intriguing . . . I’m so curious how much “restless” time I might have! Very interesting.
That’s what I wanted to know too, I was really curious!
I love wearing things like that–it is SO cool to see the stats! And I am more active in my sleep than I thought…haha. Mostly because I get up to go pee at least 1-2x/night.
I love stats too, I’m such a numbers girl!
we are numbers girls too! we have worn gadgets like that – always interesting to see the stats!
It was definitely interesting, I like it!
I’ve always been intrigued by the Fit Bits and have wanted to try one out. I wonder how accurate it is as to how many calories you burn and every thing. It looks pretty good, and easy to conceal too!
