Good morning everyone! I hope you all are having a great Sunday!
So yesterday was another big day for me! Remember two weeks ago when I ran 11 miles and PDR’d (Personal Distance Record)? Well yesterday I had 12 miles on my half marathon training plan, so it was another new PDR for me!
I was really not wanting to hit the treadmill again, however, it had snowed like crazy the whole day before and then I woke up to this:
Um. No thank you. I decided to hit the treadmill. Sorry I’m not sorry.
I was sorry, however, when I got to the gym. My gym opens at 8am on Saturday mornings so I arrived promptly at 7:58 to a crowd waiting outside. Normal, I figured, we have a couple minutes. Waiting… Still waiting. Murmuring in the crowd. Severe disgruntlement occurring.
Apparently whichever manager had the key did not feel the need to grace us at 8am that morning. We were finally let in around 8:25! I was not a happy camper, but not too upset since I didn’t have any concrete plans that day. I did, however, feel pretty bad for some of the other people who’d planned on being out of there by 9 to get to work.
Once I’d changed out of my sweats and boots, I hit the treadmill and got started! Right after I began, a girl that I had run next to a few weeks ago who’d been training for a half showed up! Thank goodness for her! She ran next to me for 6 of my 12 miles and we talked the whole time! I was so grateful to have her there to distract me and make it more entertaining! Thanks Chelsey!
Haha, I especially appreciated it since the TVs went blank and never came back on… Thanks gym. After Chelsey left, I listened to a podcast that my cousin, Allie, suggested to me. It was called the Half Marathon Training Academy and was really pretty interesting! It kept me entertained for another 4 miles, and then I ended up switching to music to get myself through the last bit.
I ended the 12 miles in 1:53:39 for a pace of 9:28 min/mile! The run went pretty well, although my ankles and knees started feeling sore for the last 3 miles. I’ll have to work on some kind of ankle strengthening.
I got off the treadmill only to see this sign on my way into the locker room:
I was laughing, however, I don’t think I would have been if I had really needed to go….
When I got home I stretched, showered, and then put on my pretty purple compression sleeves and iced my knees while I enjoyed a sweet potato and some greek yogurt.
I spent the rest of the day getting a little work done and then hanging out with my brother and sister-in-law, as well as getting some time in with my love, Molly.
BAT DOG!!!! (Anyone remember this from Homeward Bound?)
She also likes to clean the table:
Doesn’t she look all sweet? Try and take that toy from her and see how sweet she gets….
We ended up grabbing dinner at Counter Burger, which I LOVE so I could finally get some veggies in for the day, and Lauren and I also went to Whole Foods! It was a great and relaxing Saturday! Now I’ve got to run, or I’ll be late to Bikram!
What’s your furthest distance or greatest physical accomplishment?
What are you up to this weekend? Crazy exciting, or relaxing?
Your gym sounds like it was having a serious off day! My farthest distance is 14 miles, I have so much respect for people that run marathons! You did so well running 12 miles on a treadmill!
Apparently the lateness thing has happened a lot recently! And 14 miles is awesome!
oh man, it sounded like the gym was just having an “off day” overall! way to go on your new PDR though – strong work girl! that’s awesome. 🙂
yea, and apparently it’s not the first time! and thanks!
I’m having a very relaxing weekend – just doing some stuff around the house and planning some meals for this week!
My PDR is 26.2 miles and not a step farther 🙂 But my longest distance on the treadmill is 7 miles – and I barely made it! I’m getting better at doing longer distances on the TM, I just have to have some entertainment to keep me going.
Hahaha well you had to keep walking when you finished, right? And the treadmill for me isn’t so bad with all the people-watching at the gym!
I got confused there for a minute when you said “Thanks Chelsey” – ha! Apparently I’m the only Chelsey in the world in my mind. Glad your run went well!
Haha I actually thought about clarifying! But same name, and that’s how she spells it – she has a headband with her name on it!
Seriously how are some people in the customer service business. Not ok!!
Haha exactly! I would have complained to management, but they are the problem! All the other employees were waiting to get in too!
Glad your run went well. I did 27 miles as a prd. I can’t believe your gym-I would have been pretty irritated with it all, especially if you are paying a fee.
Haha definitely paying a membership fee! And 27 is awesome!!!!
Where did you get the ice packs you are using in the photo? They look easier to use than the standard ice pack I have.
I got them at CVS! They are fantastic, made specifically for knees!
