Quest Bar Review

Have I mentioned that I like Quest Bars? I’m not sure if I have…

Ha. A bit of sarcasm for you all today. I’m a huge fan of Quest Bars and I’d been buying them for a while before I was accepted onto a FitFluential campaign for the bars. I may or may not have screamed with excitement… FREE QUEST BARS! Plus I was finally going to get to taste the Cookie Dough flavor!

You can only imagine my excitement when my box finally arrived. Obviously the first one I pulled out was the Cookie Dough flavor!

So why do I like Quest Bars so much? Well, for one thing, the taste. The flavors that they offer are:

questbarflavors

Back when I first started weight lifting I bought protein bars and would eat one almost every day. They were disgusting. I’d try and pretend I liked them but honestly I might get sick if you get one anywhere near me.

Quest Bars, however, taste nothing like a protein bar. I know so many of you have asked “do they actually taste that good?” Well, I can’t say it tastes exactly like cookie dough, or exactly like a lemon cream pie, but I think they taste pretty darn good.

Another reason that I love Quest Bars is their ingredient list! All Quest Bars have high-quality bioavailable proteins, most of the carbs come from fiber (all bars have at least 17g! whew!), and they are all gluten free (and soy free!).

From the Quest Bar website

One thing that I don’t like is that many of the bars contain sucralose, which is an artificial sweetener, but despite this they’re better than any other protein bar I have personally found. They actually explain each ingredient in their bars on their website if you’re interested!

I’ve been slowly making my way through the bars, but my absolute favorite flavors are Cinnamon Roll and Lemon Crème Pie (I love lemon…). They’re perfect for finals and Bar studying because I just keep one or two in my bag at all times and have it on hand when hunger strikes! Much better than searching down a vending machine…

**Edited to add: Many of you mentioned not being able to find them. I have only found them in Vitamin Shoppes and GNC stores. You can go HERE to see where they are sold near you!**

Have you ever tried a Quest Bar?

Do you look at the ingredients lists on packaged foods you buy?

    • I just edited the post to add a link to their Store Locator. Personally I’ve only ever found them in Vitamin Shoppes and GNCs

    • Most have sucralose but some (like the Chocolate Peanut Butter shown above) have stevia instead. But sucralose is listed as one of the last ingredients, which means there’s very little of it and it hasn’t bothered my sensitive stomach!

    • They usually sell them at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe! I added a link to their Store Locator at the bottom of the post.

  1. Quest bars are unreal. I have only tried cinnamon roll and strawberry cheesecake, but they taste like candy and keep me full and satisfied whenever I need one during the day! I wish they weren’t so expensive, but you get what you pay for I guess…do anyone know where you can get these for a good price? I have been buying them at my local organic food store and they are about $2.50 each

    • I haven’t been able to find them for cheaper anywhere, but GNC is usually having a sale on them (I think it’s buy 3 get one free?)

    • Well it’s not quite as natural as something like a lara bar, but they sure wouldn’t taste that way otherwise! So good!

  2. I tried my first Quest bar yesterday…cookie dough. I am in love. I was a little apprehensive to try because they are so hyped up, but now I know what all the hype is about. I went on a spree and bought a bunch of different flavors. Perfect study fuel if you ask me!

  3. That’s pretty neat that they explain each of their ingredients on their website! I don’t really buy boxed foods right now, just produce and fresh meat. However, I do look at the ingredients on my vitamins and medicine which sometimes contain some nasty stuff too!

  4. Quest Bars are my favorite!! I love the cookie dough flavor – It tastes JUST like a cookie but healthy for you 🙂 And yes, I’m a big ingredient analyzer prior to purchasing. I love all of the fiber and protein in these little bars – they keep you full for hours!

  5. I wish they didn’t have dairy protein… I might still have to try one sometime.

Usually I’m pretty careful about not buying things with too many weird ingredients BUT I’m not going to turn down a Reeses cup every now and then because I don’t know what one of the ingredients is… I obviously have my priorities right :P.

    • I know… it’s rude. Haha and I totally agree, I don’t generally eat things with weird ingredients but I’m not about to cut them out completely!

  6. I really wish they sold these in the UK, they look really good. I like the sound of the lemon cream flavor. I might have to treat myself and pay the delivery charge for them as I am becoming increasingly curious to try them! thanks for the review Katie. Tam

  7. I don’t do sucralose and I’m a bit wary of stevia but I might break down and try one of these just to see. Especially since there is a GNC across from where I get on and off the train.

    • Oh I eat stevia every day, doesn’t bother my stomach one bit whereas artificial sweeteners do. Although the sucralose in these hasn’t bothered my stomach at all!

  8. Hi! I love this blog! I am a fellow chicago distance runner from chicago! I stumbled across this blog because I too an a clean eater who is obsessed with oatmeal! Love your recipes! have you tried baking the chocolate chip quest bar for like 5 minutes on 350! Tastes just like a quest bar! PS I think I saw you at a starbucks in lincoln park!!

  9. Katie, did you have to slowly build up to eating a whole bar because of the high amount of fiber in them? Or did you start at a whole bar on the first eat?

      • thank you. Obviously I won’t eat them if they bother me, but everything seems to bother me and I just don’t want to make things worse so want to do this cautiously.

Sorry if I am asking too many questions. I don’t mean to, really.

  10. Katie, great review! However, I’m not a huge fan of Quest bars. But their Marketing is top notch and other bar manufacturers are starting to chase them with new contenders like Oh Yeah Victory Bars and VPX Life Lift bars. Everybody wants to have a piece of Quest’s market share.

Personally I don’t really like the texture of either of these three bars. I’m more of a nutty bar person.

Again, great review and I would love for you to leave your rating for Quest Bar or any other bar you’ve tried so far on my site.

    Thanks
    Daniel
