Recent Law Grad Picked Up for DWI

DWI

Summary: A recent law school graduate and practicing attorney was cited for DWI by a North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper.

A recent law school graduate was charged with driving while impaired in North Carolina. Joseph Francis Peterson, 25, is a criminal and civil defense attorney that was stopped by a North Carolina Highway Patrol officer for driving while impaired and reckless driving to endanger.

Peterson was picked up around 4 am according to court documents. The trooper is technically off for the Christmas holiday so the citation has not been made available yet. The hand-written notes simply state that he was driving carelessly and recklessly near Pirate Cove in Sneads Ferry. His bail was set at $1,000 bond.

Peterson attended Campbell University School of Law this year and graduated in the top 25 percent of his class. He is employed at The Castle Law Firm. His area of practice is in criminal law, including DWIs, misdemeanors, traffic, and felonies. He also covers family law, general civil litigation and appeals.

The law firm’s website states under the DWI/DUI tab that being convicted of a either offense has serious consequences with the most lenient punishment being a level five where the attorney would lose their license for at least one year.
