Summary: The Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University has received a $10 million donation from the Beus family, the largest in the school’s history.

The largest donation in the history of Arizona State University’s law school was made by Leo and Annette Beus. The gift of $10 million will help build a new school in downtown Phoenix, according to The Arizona Republic.

The dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Douglas Sylvester, said, “The remarkable thing about it is we didn’t ask him for it.”

Leo Beus is a principal at the law firm of Beus Gilbert. The new law school has already started construction and the donation will help to complete it.

Beus graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. According to Sylvester, Beus and his family has donated to the law school and to the university in the past.

The school wants to raise $50 million for the construction and with the donation from the Beus family, the school has now raised $34 million.

The new building will bring the entire law school under one roof. The current location is a building dating back to the 1960s that does not have enough space for professors and staff. They are spread out in other buildings across the campus.

Two-thirds of the building will be occupied by the law school. A university bookstore, a restaurant and two levels of underground parking spaces will comprise the rest of the building.
