Hey everyone! I’m on my way to Kansas City today!!! YAY! So excited since I haven’t been home since March!
If any of you follow me on Daily Mile, you can see that I didn’t do much running this summer. Like, a 5K sounds rough to me right now. Here’s a look at my weekly mileage May through the beginning of August this year:
womp womp…
For some reason I just wasn’t feeling running this summer. I’ve learned that for me to run without injuries, I need to spend plenty of time stretching and foam rolling and I just did not have the patience for that on top of studying. So I spent my time walking on the treadmill, on the elliptical, and lifting weights.
Since the Bar ended, however, I’ve gotten a sudden passion for running again, so I’m going with it! No races in my future other than Pretty Muddy (which is just for FUN so you should come join us!) so I’m just going by feeling now and enjoying my time on the road.
I’ve also starting going on long (4+ mile) walks like I used to in college and I forgot how much I love doing that! When I walk I usually listen to an audiobook or a podcast. I’ve been catching up on all the Jillian Michaels podcasts that I missed over the past several months.
When I run, however, I LOVE listening to upbeat music. It really helps me pick up my speed and enjoy the run even more. Last week, when I really started running more, I decided to make a new running playlist and I wanted to share it with you all. Since August means school is done for me instead of starting, I thought I’d call this my “School’s Out Running Playlist.” Enjoy!
What’s your favorite running song right now?
Are you training for a race or running for fun?
Anyone else like super long walks too?
And yes, I spelled “blurred” wrong. Too lazy to fix it. 🙂
Im old school hiphop.
ALWAYS 😉
haha LOVE it
I am way behind on my music because I rarely update my playlists. Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” gets me up the hills!
I love songs that really get you going like that one!
I’m a sucker for anything Kanye right now. The new album is crazy good. And Blurred Lines is also on repeat. Was training for a half but IT band pain is back (grrrrr) so that’s on hold for the time being. This can be my new walking playlist lol
Ahhh IT band pain sucks, I feel you on that one!
“Magic” makes it onto every running playlist that I have. It is a great pump up the confidence song! And the beat falls perfectly with how fast my good runs are.
Such a great, upbeat song!
i’m so happy you shared this babe as i have been running now with the gpp workouts! i have only been listening to stronger by kanye on repeat LOL so i definitely need new music. i’ll have to listen to this stuff!
p.s. yes love love love long walks. come to london and we will walk all day haha
I love getting new music for running, it makes it more exciting! And I would LOVE to come to London! We might have to make that happen!
I’m totally digging the walking lately! I have a few “just for fun” races coming up in the next month, but they’re shorter (5ks/5 miler) and I’m not doing any sort of training for them.
Yes, I’m LOVING walking too! Before I started running my junior year of college I went on really long walks around Charleston for exercise and I loved it.
Sandstorm is always a winner!
Yes! Gets me pumped up!
I’ve been walking my mom’s puppy (with her) since I’ve been home and it’s been really nice :).
YAY PUPPY!!!!!!!!!!
Fun playlist!!
I am totally a “Gotta feel it” runner. Or else I hate every minute of it! hah
have fun at home!
Thanks, Annette!
I’m obsessed with “Blurred Lines” right now!
ME TOO!
Love the playlist! I went running for the first time in ages on Monday morning and it felt AMAZING. It was like discovering myself again, or just remembering that I’ll always be a runner at heart – I’ve been too into lifting lately to make time to run.
I stopped running with music a while ago though – I can’t have music on during triathlons so I didn’t want to rely on it. Plus it scares me a bit now! I hope you’re running somewhere safe during the day with headphones in 🙂
That’s smart to not run with music if you can’t race with it, don’t want to become dependent on it! And I love a good no-music run as well, easy to think! And yes, I only use headphones on the treadmill or if it’s light out, I hate not being aware of what’s going on around me!
I know it’s a bit old, but Calvin Harris’ “Sweet Nothing” with Florence Welch is my jam right now for walking and running intervals. It has such an addicting beat! 🙂
