Anyone want to take a guess at why today is the best Monday ever? Most of you know I don’t like my Mondays this semester – they are the looooongest day of the week: 5:00am wake up call, hit the gym, hit the shower, leave for school at 7:30 am, classes all day, get home at 7:00pm.
So why in the world would I be excited about today (minus the oral argument and presentation I have to do…)??
IT’S MY LAST LONG MONDAY!!!!!
Yaayyyyy!!!! That’s right folks, this is the LAST time I will be tortured on a Monday! I’m going to try and make the best of it, but we’ll see how it goes! I am sooooo not a fan of speaking in front of people and I have to do it twice today. I know in reality it will be fin, but I get so anxious about it! I just want it to be over with!
Yesterday was a pretty interesting day… It started out with a workout at the gym and then home and straight to the shower. I met someone for brunch afterwards at a restaurant called Feast. I have to say, I wasn’t super impressed. They did have a gluten free menu online, but when I got there I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so I just ordered the chef’s omelet for the day. It was tomato, spinach and swiss cheese… really creative… not. It was just alright. The potatoes were extra crispy though, which was pretty good.
After brunch I headed home and got a bunch of work done for these presentations and then worked on some outlines. For a late lunch/snack I made a brown rice tortilla pizza! I just covered the tortilla the with marinara sauce and added spinach and thinly sliced eggplant. Stuck it in the oven at about 450* for 10 minutes and it was ready to go! I actually ate it with a little hummus too! So good.
After my snack, I headed over to my brother’s apartment to catch up with him and my sister-in-law and, of course, visit my favorite “person” ever: MOLLY! She was very caught up with her toys. Please note she is sitting on top of my sister in law in this picture. She doesn’t care if someone is in her seat, she’ll sit there anyway.
And don’t worry, we don’t make Molly play with rags… She has about a million toys, this one has just got a little more “love” than some others, although less than those that are already in the trash…
Also, I got my Birchbox package this weekend! For those of you who don’t know, Birchbox is a company that sends you beauty samples for $10 a month. I meant to try it out for 1 or 2 months and then cancel my membership… I just can’t bring myself to cancel it. I LOVE samples, it’s so fun to get the box each week!
This week was a really great box and I wanted to share it with you all. The “theme” of the month was Natural Wonders. Everything was made with natural ingredients! They also mentioned on the card that all the boxes that these samples come in are 100% recyclable AND they offset all the carbon emissions from their shipping! Go Birchbox!
My box included the perfume Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift, which smelled much better than I anticipated! I’m usually hesitant when it comes to celebrity-endorsed perfumes, but I liked this one! The box also included an Alima Pure Organic Nourishing Lip balm in Rhubarb, Willa gentle cleansing lavender facial towelettes and Dropps Laundry Detergent. I haven’t tried the detergent or the towelettes yet, but I loved the lip balm and the color was pretty subtle but nice.
The last item in the box was another box! It was filled with an exfoliator and moisturizer from Befine. I haven’t used the exfoliator, but the moisturizer smelled amazing, worked well and it was very light and didn’t feel like it was oily or anything on my face, it felt like a fluffy cloud! (yes, I’m weird and clearly not a writer…)
I hope you all also had a great Sunday and a great weekend! And I also hope your weather was much warmer than here in Chicago… Come on spring, where did you go???
Do you use any all-natural products?
What are your favorite pizza toppings?
I’m a savory breakfast girl, so when I saw the photo of your pizza my mouth literally started watering – at 7:30 in the morning. Looks really yummy – must try!
My fav pizza ingredients come from pizzas at Spin! Neapolitan Pizza here in KC. I’m a big fan of their simple margherita pizza (the perfect ratio of ingredients!) or their artichoke and kalamata olive pizza. Squisito!
You should! It’s great anytime of the day, with any toppings! And I LOVE Spin, they have gluten free crust! Haha we should go there too!
Congrats on it being your last long Monday! Always a good feeling to have the last class of the semester out of the way! My favorite pizza is in KC and I try to go when I am home for the holidays – Waldo Pizza – the honey wheat crust with a good assortment of veggies on top!
We used to get Waldo pizza EVERY friday or saturday night!! Whichever evening my parents were going out to dinner, they’d let my brother’s and I order waldo pizza! It was so good! I haven’t been in ages, I should go when I get home!
yayyy for your last long monday!! i’m sure just thinking about that will make today SO much better. 🙂 and ahhh i can’t wait to hear about the brunch!!!
Haha ooooh the brunch. I’ll tell you all about it, AFTER I survive today. Currently been here for 2 hours, 7.5 hours until I get to head to the bus to go back home…
it actually SNOWED here in ottawa, canada today 🙁 how lame!! (it’s been spring weather all month!)
congrats on your last long day! it’s exam week for me! good luck girl!
Ahhh so rude, weather! Good luck on your exams! At least the snow will keep you from wishing you were outside!!!
YAY so exciting! You’re gonna feel absolutely amazing when today is over. Your pizza looks so so so good & Molly is absolutely adorable! Have a great week 🙂
Thanks, you have a great week too!!
I need to get on that Birchbox! That sounds so neat and I love trying samples of new things. I’ve really been trying to transition to natural hair/face/body products as well as natural cleaning products…but it’s become a slooow transition thanks to the college budget 😉
Haha yea, I know what you mean about the budget – i’m all about the cheapest things I can find!
I’ve never thought of using a tortilla as a mini pizza crust – such a good and easy idea! Hope your presentations go well – I hate doing them too!
Thanks, I can’t wait for them to be over!
I loved the Birchbox Taylor Swift perfume, but was a bit meh on the organic stuff. I got some Tea Forte samples instead of the skin stuff. Make-up wise, I just discovered Nars so I haven’t been as into their make-up samples as of late.
I love the two pizza places others mentioned above!
I always wonder how the boxes are different and what other people get – i know it’s based on some of the things you tell them about yourself
So excited for you! No more crazy Mondays sounds fabulous! And that pizza, wow… way to get me drooling at my work desk :- / I love that you are stilling willing to make the best of such a day! That attitude is one I strive for each day, and trust me, having it is more valuable than a million dollars! Keep up the positivity! I love your posts!
Haha glad I got you drooling! It was so easy to make: 15 min tops! And thanks, I’m trying to stay positive!!! 6.5 hours until I leave to go home!
I try to use only natural products. My favorite is a line called ‘RAw Essentials!’
I’ll have to look that brand up!
Hooray!! I hope it’s a GOOD last long Monday day for you 🙂
Thanks, Paige!
WOW-that pizza sounds amazingly delicious!
Enjoy your LAST LONG day Monday ever!!!!!! hehe 🙂
Thanks, Annette!
That pizza looks amazing, basil and fresh mozzarella is my favorite combo!
I love basil on pizza! So good!
That pizza looks so delicious!!! I have got to try that one day!
YAY for your long last monday! 🙂 I just got done taking my last test for one of my labs, what a glorious feeling! 🙂 Good luck to girl!
congrats on finishing your lab test! I was a science major and those were always so stressful!
I used to go to Feast quite often when I lived in Chicago!
Favorite pizza topping lately is arugula. A great way to get greens in the meal.
Good luck with your marathon training.
I’ve never tried arugula, but I bet that would be good!
Hooray for it being your last long Monday – and by now, I think you are done! Good luck on your upcoming finals 🙂
I once tried an eggplant pizza as a sample at the grocery store and have been meaning to make it myself – it was delicious!
I AM done!!! Haha and I just had that EXACT same pizza again tonight. I couldn’t resist!
