Hey everyone! It’s THURSDAY!!!! I’m so excited for the weekend, although I feel like this week FLEW by! Which it did since I didn’t have class Monday due to Rosh Hashana! (don’t be jealous, we have to make it up later…). I also had Molly for 6 days so she kept me very busy! I realized this morning that I not only miss Molly, but I miss having someone ELSE to focus on other than me! It was nice to feel needed, haha too bad Neville requires little attention…
1. I am officially excited for fall. It’s slowly but surely cooling off here in Chicago and I am feeling the fall excitement! It’s by far my favorite season, so now I’m ready to embrace it!
2. Speaking of Fall, I can’t wait until it’s actually cold enough to wear boots. I am dying to pull them out! (and yes, this is exactly what I look like…)
3. Since I was so tired this week I decided to run my 8 miles after class on Wednesday and sleep in. Apparently to Molly “sleep in” means jump on Katie at 6am and insist that she gets plenty of attention.
4. One of the many reasons I love bloggers and healthy blog readers:
WHEN I MEET SOMEONE WITH AS MANY DIETARY RESTRICTIONS AS ME
5. I tried this kind of KIND bar on Wednesday. It was pretty good and you could really taste the honey. I’d buy it again.
6. I’m already looking at the 10 day weather to see the weather for the marathon (won’t be able to see marathon day for a while). So far I have determined… nothing.
7. I’m slowly but surely updating my recipe page and adding pretty pictures and Pin It! buttons so that you all can pin any recipes and save them easily.
8. It’s officially “taper time” for the marathon, which means our mileage cuts back significantly. I was so excited for this but when I looked at my plan for this week I thought: SERIOUSLY??! Last week’s mid-week mileage was 5, 10, 5. This week is 5, 8, 4. I was hoping for a bigger break than that… Buuuuut, I busted out my 8 miles last night despite some serious wind conditions and it made me feel so strong and ready for the marathon!
Molly and I enjoyed a walk and a green smoothie after.
9. My Marathon information packet came in the mail last night! Haha honestly it was a bit much. Normally I’m type-A and need to plan everything. I started looking at the packet and thought: “I just want to RUN!” It was a bit much.
10. My late class (from 6-7:50pm) is cancelled tonight!!! Yay!!!! This means I’ll get home around 6:30 instead of 8:45!!!
Go check out my adorable oatmeal recipe photos!
Are you a Type-A planner or do you like to just jump in and go?
Do you like having someone/thing else to take care of, or just focusing on you?
I’m DEFINITELY type-A, but am trying to relax a little more. 🙂 It works a bit … still going to keep trying (Is trying so hard NOT to be type-A a type-A habit? haha. Am I perpetuating my type-A? Oh well.)
Taking care of our dog has largely fallen on me lately. I do like the responsibility, but I like the company and love she gives me more than I dislike the little bits of responsibility that suck … if that makes sense. She makes me smile and she’s low-maintenance — can’t complain! 🙂
lol Molly was very high maintenance but I miss her anyway!
Oh I am certainly the Type A and gotta plan everything person… but I’ve certainly calmed down quite a bit in the past year or so. I know my body (and Cody!) appreciates it. 😉
HAha I’ve calmed down a lot too, which I realized when I read about 1 page of that packet and then tossed it on the floor…
I am for sure a Type-A planner. Last night in bed I knew what I was having for breakfast and started planning lunch! Can we say, crazy? haha
Haha that’s some serious planning! I’ve gotten a little more relaxed with planning meals ahead of time, it was too much focus on food!
I love that gif of meeting people with food restrictions! Im so excited for you to run the marathon. I think i am going to sign up for it next year. I am doing a half and a 10 mile run in less then two months! I love your recipe page. I love when classes get canceled. Have a great thursday!
I KNOW I LOVE BOOTS! That was kind of rude of you to use that picture of me in my cute outfit and boots and not ask but whatever…
I’m like the paparazzi following you around to capture your outfits
Although I’m a type-A personality, I’m trying to learn to be more “in the moment.” It’s a hard lesson to learn!
I’ll be watching the Chicago marathon. If I see you, I’ll give a shout out!!
Definitely do! I’ll need the encouragement!
jealous that your run went well but i know your five was tough so you at least feel my pain. i cannot wait for boot weather either! we’re going to be a little slower to cool down than you, but i’ll probably just start wearing my boots before the weather lets me anyway 🙂
I wore mine today! Just with thinner socks… haha
haha I am the same way. when I hear someone has celiacs I like burst into a huge smile! yay for taper time.
Can’t wait to see your updated recipe page! HAHA. That is the first thing I look at when I visit a new blog. And #4 totally made me laugh out loud. Being weird together is much better than being weird apart 🙂
Haha it’s one of the first things I look at too!
I love this fall weather- seriously! I can’t wait to bust out my jackets, boots, and scarves!
I decided to wear boots today! I couldn’t wait anymore!
Oh my gawd, Molly is too cute. Sigh. I miss having a dog!
I’m pretty Type A but I get all anxious when I get a participant guide or even the syllabus on the first day of class. In those cases I just want to take it one step at a time instead of getting overwhelmed with info!
It definitely was overwhelming!
It was so windy yesterday! Nice work getting in 8 miles with that…I had trouble standing on the street corner waiting to cross the road! I’m definitely excited for the cooler weather, though. I’ve hit the point of the season when I’m so sick of my seasonal wardrobe that every day I’m like, “I HATE ALL MY CLOTHES AND NEVER WANT TO WEAR THEM AGAIN.” Hahaha. Bring on the long sleeves and jeans!
Haha I almost got blown off the sidewalk at one point! But the wind came and went depending on where I was, so it wasn’t too awful.
YAY for marathon time approaching!!! WAY to get that 8 miler after class. That;s impressive, for sure.
I totally am Type A-but I am starting to chill more b/c of my amazing husband, and recognizing that life is more than planning it all out. We should sit back & ENJOY the rid, instead of trying to control the ride 😉 xoxo
Definitely something I’m learning too!
I love that keep calm picture and I can’t wait for boots either! I have already started wearing them here and there! (: I am definitely a planner. I love to know what is going on the day before it bothers my fiance so much because he is the complete opposite1
I just found your blog, and literally laughed out loud at the fact that you named your fish Neville! That is hysterical and so clever!!
Haha I love when people appreciate his name!! Thanks, Claire!
I’m excited for you! I can’t believe you are running a full marathon! I am on week 2 of training for my first half marathon and just trying to get through it!
Any tips?!
Well tip #1 is you should LOVE running, not being trying to get through it! If it’s so hard that you aren’t liking it, then SLOW DOWN! My runs with my group at a slower pace are more fun because 1) I’m running with people and chatting and 2) I don’t feel like I want to die! You don’t have to push yourself every single run. And along with that, a training buddy can help a lot! If you don’t have any friends who run, reach other to other bloggers in your area, I’m sure you’ll find some who’d love to run with you! Feel free to email me with any questions, Lauren! peaceloveandoats@gmail.com
Thanks for the tips! I am slowing learning to LOVE running again. I find it a time that I can clear my head. I’m definitely going to have to find some bloggers in the area to run with because my friends aren’t exactly the running type 🙂
WOOHOOO for a cancelled class!!!
Type A all the way – I’m definitely a huge planner.
I make my boyfriend the large majority of his meals and am begging for a puppy for my birthday soooo…yea. I like looking after other people/animals/inanimate objects. 🙂
So excited for boot weather now that I actually have some boots to wear! I was going to try and wait and ask for them for my birthday but then I found a deal and just had to go for it 🙂 Are you getting excited for October 30th?!? I know I am!
I love having some”one” to take care of – I don’t know what I’d do without Meeko!
I’m definitely Type A! You are not alone 😉
Oh Katie you know I am Type A all of the way, and I am sure so many others around these blog parts are too 🙂 Yay for tapering now, what a change that will be though!
