Goooood Morning (or afternoon/evening?).
I hope you’re all having a good week! I’m enjoying my time here in Colorado Springs, I’ll be here until Sunday morning! Trying to relax, but I like to “maximize” my time… I need to learn to just be lazy. Perhaps today? We’ll see. Anyway, it’s Thursday, which means it’s time for another installment of Thursday Thoughts!
1. On our road trip Monday from Kansas City to Colorado Springs, my mother put her iTunes on shuffle… I’m sure you’re not surprised that my headphones went in after too many hours of this:
2. Aaaaaand I’ve already finished the book for Julie’s book club! I am on a ROLL! I should have packed more books with me… (Edited to add – I am also now halfway through another book as of this morning… I need to find a used bookstore).
3. I went on a hike yesterday in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. This was the first of many signs I saw warning me about wildlife. One of them said if the animal attacks, fight back. Let’s just say I considered turning around.
4. I considered purchasing this. But then I decided to save my $5.99 and take a picture instead.
5. Does anyone know where to buy Love Grown Hot Oats in Colorado? I know they’re in the state but I can’t find where I read to buy them. I’m dying to snag a few and bring them back to Chicago!
6. I haven’t run in a week because my IT band has been acting up again… Ugh. Rude. I have a 10K coming up in less than a month!
7. This is one of my favorite rock structures in Garden of the Gods, it’s called the Balancing Rock:
8. I often take selfies when I’m out places like the Balancing Rock alone… Gotta prove I was there! For the millionth time…
9. Is it bad that it’s been less than a week and I already miss this face? For anyone concerned, she was picked up by her “parents” from the puppy hotel and in very good spirits.
10. Have a great Thursday!
Have you ever encountered wildlife during a hike/in nature?
What’s your favorite music to listen to in the car/on a roadtrip?
I’ve had to take a break from running this week too — knee problems! Why does running have to be so hard on our bodies??
I don’t know, because it’s so good for my mind!
Gah, that mountain lion sign is terrifying! I would’ve probably headed straight home. The scenery looks so beautiful- I need to see more of the western US!
Omg I was so freaked out! luckily I didn’t see anything but birds!
Sounds like you’re enjoying yourself! Looks like it’s been beautiful out there. 🙂
Very beautiful, although you get to see the mountains every day!
i was sad to see a picture of Molly and not myself under the face you miss…
I didn’t want to make Linda jealous…
Wow – all your photos of your hike are gorgeous! I’ve never been to Colorado but I’ve always wanted to visit.
omg you MUST! It’s my favorite state!
Looks like such a blast! Do you have a Kindle or have you ever considered getting one?
I’ve considered it, but it’s not really in my budget! Sometimes I’ll buy books on my phone and read them that way when I commute.
haha love the selfie… no shame, girl!
Haha I take soooo many selfies!
Have you seen the kissing camels (in Garden of the Gods) yet? Everything is so beautiful around there! ENJOY!!
I see them every day, we’re right by the Garden of the Gods! It’s my favorite park to go for a walk/short hike in!
I love Colorado, and the west in general. So beautiful. Your trip sounds great (minus the Kenny G!).
I’ve been on enough trails out west to have encountered plenty of those signs and they still wig me out! I guess people who live there just get used to it and don’t pay it any attention?
I think you do just get used to it! Hopefully they’re just being overly cautious..?
Fight back lol that’s too funny, I think I would run screaming or try to play dead. Glad your enjoying your book and non school reading!
Haha neither are recommended for a mountain lion encounter! Although if it’s a bear I think playing dead is a feasible option!
If you find love grown oats can you buy me a bag and I’ll pay you back pretty please??
I’m so jealous that you’re surrounded by such beautiful scenery! Soak it up, Chicago is cold and we have snow in the forecast!
Yes I will, I’ve just got to find them!!! Flavor request?
Looks like simply oats doesn’t have coconut! But I could also probably pick around it in the other ones.
Pretty pics. I love road trips and hiking! Great combo!
Thanks, Alison!
I would never shuffle my ipod in public!!! I have had some very close calls with wildlife in CO especially! Bears, watch out! Wish I was in CO right now, one of my favorite places.
Haha she doesn’t have much on the ipod in the first place… and I’ve never actually come across anything other than deer here!
That mountain lion sign would definitely be intimidating me!
haha it was not appreciated!
sounds like fun! i’m jealous! Relax and enjoy 🙂
Thanks, Maureen!
We listen to a lot of podcasts when we travel.
Haha I listened to a podcast to tune out my mom’s music!

I would LOVE to come asap today, let me know!
I cannot wait to hear what you thought about that book. I have heard so many great things about it, and I am hoping to read it soon!
LOVED it! Review should be up next week!
If not whole foods, Have you looked at the little grocery store called mountain mama? When I went to Colorado college, they had an awesome selection of Colorado brand goodies!!
Omg I went there! Didn’t see it though!
Bummer!
I’ve only encountered snakes, and that was enough for me! I hate those things.
Oh geez, that would scare me!
haha! I love that sheriff’s badge!
Christmas a few years ago my family and I went for a walk on a trail and my brother almost stepped on snake that was right in the middle of the path, it was close call! We weren’t really sure if it was poisonous, but it sure gave us a scare.
