Anyone miss Thursday Thoughts? I did!!! Haha this is by far my favorite post of the week: an accumulation of many of the things running through my mind during the week, all saved up just for you!
1. This past Saturday, Emily, her husband, sister and friend came to Chicago and we all met up for lunch at Hannah’s Bretzel. We’ve been following each other’s blogs forever and it was great to meet her in person! And we’ll be seeing each again soon at Healthy Living Summit!

2. My favorite thing about Kansas City? Okay, I guess my family is my favorite. But my second favorite thing? Roasterie Coffee. I LOVE their coffee and I love sitting in their café.
3. Speaking of coffee, I spent a LOT of time in Starbucks in the two weeks leading up to the Bar Exam (class ended and we were on our own). Since I was there bright and early every morning, the manager started suggesting that I try their Clover machine coffee, which brews fancier coffee by the cup (yes, these are all the technical terms…). It was SO GOOD! Try it if you have a little extra time!
4. Do you ever re-wear outfits with different groups of people? Um, because I do. ALL THE TIME. For example, I wore these JCrew factory shorts and a tank top from Forever 21 (via my friend, Maddie) on Saturday for bookclub and then the next Saturday to meet up with Emily and then a couple school friends. #guilty #notashamed #selfiesonthetrain
5. My new quest in life? (other than getting a job…) Obtain all the Harry Potter Audiobooks. Seriously. I cannot find them available by streaming anywhere (like on Audible.com or iTunes) and I don’t want to pay full price for CDs so I’m looking in used book stores, but only found cassettes. Next I’m trying Ebay… Suggestions?
6. So I’ve discovered a box of old photos (like before I was born up until ‘93) in my attic and I’m going through them all and taking photos of a few real gems that I’ve found. Get excited.
7. After my time here in Kansas City, I’m heading out to Colorado Springs! I’ll be driving there with my Dad this time (usually I drive out with my mom) and I’m a little scared for him. Eight to nine hours in the car with me might be overwhelming. He’s already shut down my Harry Potter audiobook suggestion… Guess I’ll have to make some great playlists. Spice Girls, anyone?
8. To make Molly feel better about my leaving, I brought her a new toy. Check out those teeth! Vicious killer right there!
9. Speaking of pets, my goldfish, Neville, turns THREE tomorrow!!!! Can you believe it? I can’t! He survived all of law school with me!
This is my first photo of him ever. And yes, he’s still the same size.
Have you ever had a fish that’s lived a long time?
Are you an outfit repeater?
What do you do during long road trips?
HOW CUTE ARE YOU AND EMILY?!
you could be sisters….
Haha we do look alike!
I usually try playing the ‘if’ game or ‘would you rather..’ It sparks a lot of conversation!
great ideas!
I totally re-wear outfits. I don’t have tons of clothes, so… Wait… Let me rephrase that; I don’t have tons of clothes that I actually like, so I hate to re-wear my few trusty outfits on a reg. basis.
And of course I love that your fish is named Neville. Adorable.
haha I’m the exact same way, I only have a few outfits that I like so I re-wear them all the time!
I’m definitely an outfit repeater. If no one sees you wear it, it didn’t happen right?
exactly! haha
Re-wearing outfits with different people? GUILTY. Shhh don’t tell anyone. 😉
haha I won’t
Pfft, I usually don’t even bother with the ‘different people’ thing. If I like an outfit, I’m probably going to wear it at least a couple of times!
Oh I’m talking like a few days later. Otherwise I try to span like 2 weeks between outfits with the same people… emphasis on “try”
I agree with Miz, you and Emily could totally pass for sisters. Pretty ladies!
I am totally an outfit repeater and I don’t care. Although I do wish I could have infinite amounts of money to be able to buy new outfits alllll the time 😛
Wouldn’t that be lovely?!
So, I pretty much only have 3 cute outfits and I wear them ALL of the time, haha! I’m sure my blog readers think that I don’t own anything else 😉 I’ll be at HLS in a month too AND I’m moving to Chicago this weekend so I’m excited to meet you at the summit! Have fun during all of your travels 🙂
pretty much my life too! and you’re moving to Chicago!? How exciting! Can’t wait to meet you at HLS!
oh yes!! we wear a lot of the same outfits over and over
glad to know I’m not the only one!
Lennie was in KC all summer and he was always raving about the cool restaurants and coffee places. I am going to have to make him take me there for a weekend in the Fall. Iowa Girls Eats did a trip and it looked incredible. Will hit you up for suggestions. Been traveling like crazy, but hopefully will see you at the next book club. Congrats on the bar!
Oh I didn’t realize he was in KC, I’m glad he liked it!
That is SO fun that neville is still alive!! Wow!
And p.s. EVERYONE does that with outfits–i promise. I totally do. Like ALL the time. hah 🙂
Haha I can’t believe he’s alive either!
Thanks to you I am loving the Harry Potter audiobooks! I downloaded the videos as mp3s on my computer and just finished the Philosopher’s Stone! Now onto the second 🙂 They are perfect for long car rides, and now I even just listen to them instead of watching Hulu/Netflix. *gasp* Crime… I know 😉
Haha I listen to them all the time! love it
I’ve gotten audiobooks from the library on CD a few times and then downloaded them to my iTunes!
My cousin suggested that! I need to do that, thanks!
I’ve picked up a lot of audiobooks from the library and then just transfer the files to my computer for later!
I re-wear outfits all the time. I used to try to “save” the clothes I really like and not wear them very often, but now I think it is just better to wear them a whole bunch when you can!
I agree, I need to just wear all my favorites all the time!
