Thursday Thoughts

Hey everyone! I can’t believe it’s Thursday already… where did the time go!?! I guess tossing a Hanson Concert into your week throws things off! Nevertheless, it’s time for this week’s Thursday Thoughts!

1. I am SO EXCITED that I got in a six mile run this weekend. It’s been a very, very long time since I hit that distance and I hope to do one more six miler before my half marathon training plan begins in the last few days of October.

2. Speaking of running, a couple weeks ago I bought this running skirt on sale at Marshalls. I thought I’d buy a less expensive one to try out the concept of a running skirt. Verdict? LOVED it. It was really really comfortable!

3. Yesterday I met up with Cate at the Green City Market (last week!) to get tamales for breakfast! She’d blogged about them before and we’d been trying to get together for months to go together. They were delicious!

4. I keep wanted to do a “Tour of My Apartment” post, but I really want to hang some art first. Sadly that requires money to frame my art, which requires me to have money to spare… it’s a vicious cycle. I guess I’ll just have to do a “Ignore the Blank Walls Tour…”

5. Netflix recently added several seasons of Say Yes To The Dress so, of course, I’ve been binge watching them… During one episode I found Lindsay’s PERFECT dress! And yes, it’s all silver. Doesn’t it just scream Lindsay?!!? Ha.

6. I’m kind of obsessed with my building’s rooftop right now. I think it’s my instinct to get in as much time in the fresh air as possible before it gets too cold but I’ve been going up there almost every afternoon for a few minutes just to stare around. It’s really cool because you can see out in all directions. Here’s West:

7. I don’t like to discuss controversial topics like politics, religion and… sports teams on the blog but I just couldn’t resist anymore. I have been a HUGE and very loyal Chiefs fan since the day I was born and I am SO EXCITED about how well they are doing! Did you know that Arrowhead Stadium broke the world record for noise level? Yep, we’re a pretty awesome group of fans.

8. I’ve been having a rough time recently dealing with anxiety, boredom/emotional eating and just over-all self-doubt. I feel like my life is on hold and I’m not enjoying it. Not sure how to remedy the situation, but I thought I’d share a few things from pinterest that make me smile, and hopefully will do the same for you!

  1. Way to go on your 6 miler! I bet that felt great. And I LOVE that running skirt – super cute.

Hang in there girl. I know it’s a rough time right now, but something that I was once told back when I was going through a hard time was “It won’t last forever. This is only a phase.” Try to remember that and embrace as much as you can during this time. Praying for you. Hugs!

  2. Yes! A Chiefs shoutout! I love them so much!!!

Also, if you want to unload your stress/anxiety about job searching, I’m here! I’ve done it like 100 times and am doing it yet again. The hardest part is enjoying the free time, but try! Roof deck and say yes to the dress are exactly what you should be doing! And running. Ha!

  3. That tamale looks absolutely delicious!

My favorite hockey team is the Calgary Flames. My favorite soccer team is the Canadian women’s national team. I’d love to see a soccer game in Europe one day. The fans are so intense!

  4. I tried running skirts a few years ago and my only issue is that they get super hot. I’m a heavy sweater, so I feel like I just come back dripping. Ew, haha. But that one you have is super cute! I loooove the white/green.

  5. What an awesome view of the city!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through a rough time right now. Just know that you’re not alone. I’ve been feeling the same for awhile but I’m actively trying my best to change my attitude and way of thinking… (I’ve never been good at this!) especially by reminding myself daily of all the good things in my life and remembering that this won’t be forever! Hang in there.

  6. Congrats on hitting six miles!
The boyfriend is in the same job-hunting situation right now, so I’ve seen how frustrating it is. But really, all you can do is keep working away at it and something will come along. Just hang in there and you’ll find something great!

  7. I keep getting the urge to try a running skirt! Maybe I will need to pick one up before my race this Sunday. 🙂

Sorry you’re feeling down – it’s always tough being in a transition period. Just remember, you passed your friggin’ BAR exam. You got this. 😉 Love the pinterest boards!

  8. sorry to hear you’ve had a rough time emotionally lately, babe. i’m not sure what’s causing it for you, but i’ve been having a lot of not my normal thoughts, too, lately. i’m always here for you babe, so please reach out to me any time! i love that black dress you pinned. i’ve been on pinterest more than ever these past few weeks. it’s kind of scary.

congrats on your run! love ya

  9. Congrats on your run! that is amazing!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling right now – it can be so overwhelming when one chapter of life ends and you are waiting to see what the next one will be. Just know that you’re not alone in this! So many of my clients (and myself!) have/do struggled with food related reactions to emotional situations. Just remember, you’re beautiful, strong, and exactly where you’re supposed to be in your life right now!!

  10. Sorry things are rough right now. It will get better, I promise. Life always finds a way of surprising us. When I feel down, I just remind myself that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be, what will be, will be and other such cheesy things (also, cheese helps. Preferably with wine). Can’t wait for the post when yout tell us all about the amazing job you’ve found, that’s just the right thing for you! I have a feeling it won’t be long.

  11. Umm, yes, I have teams. It’s called Boston/New England. So…Go Patriots/Red Sox/Celtics/Bruins!! I’m watching Game 6 for the Red Sox as I type this. Hopefully we win and head to the World Series. If we do, myself and one of my reps are probably not going to speak until the Series is over because he’s a die-hard Cardinals fan.

I understand about not having the money for fun things like framing art. I, for one, would still enjoy a “blank walled” apartment tour. Fun! And your rooftop is amazing.

  12. Katie, you are not alone in the complete mental yuck of unemployment. The months I’ve spent in the last 2 years when I was completely unemployed and looking for a job were by far the worst months of my life. It’s the boredom, no control of actually getting a job, and the unknown. Working full time (or doing an internship) and looking for a job is intense and stressful but I much, much prefer that to unemployed (bored!) looking for a job.
