Thursday Thoughts

Hey there! I hope you’re all having a good week! You know the drill, time for this week’s Thursday Thoughts!

1. Yesterday morning I headed out of my apartment for the half mile walk to my gym wearing shorts and a sweatshirt, thinking it would be the same temp as the past couple mornings. No, no. Lesson learned: check weather before leaving.

2. My parents are coming to visit this weekend! I’m not sure why… but they decided they wanted to come visit Chicago (and my brother and I…) sometime this fall so they’re headed up on Friday! We’ll just pretend it’s all about my birthday next week.

3. On Tuesday I decided to make this meatball recipe that I found on Pinterest. Didn’t go so well…

4. Apparently I’m the traveling queen right now. Perfect thing to do when you have so much money… Not. Good thing I’m going places where I can stay with people! Along with my half marathon in Phoenix this January, I’m headed to Denver in mid-November to visit a friend (I had a travel voucher that was going to expire right after; HAD to use it!), I’m going to Kansas City for Thanksgiving, and then…

I’m going to SOUTH CAROLINA in March for a relay with Lindsay and Taylor! Yes, it will take a chunk out of my savings, but I felt like this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to not only do one of these awesome relay races, but to do one in a state I know well AND get to see some friends while I’m there! Win, win.

5. My dear goldfish, Neville, turned 3 years old this past August! Oh did I mention my blog turned 2? Yea, totally missed that one… Anyway, for 3 years Neville had the same plastic rocks at the bottom of his bowl. They were old and gross. As a belated birthday present, I got him some shiny new rocks!

Yes. That was exciting enough to add to my Thursday Thoughts post…

6. Any other Divergent fans out there? I am SO excited that the third book in the trilogy came out this week! I’m trying to be good, however, and finish the book I’m currently reading before I start…

7. Oh my goodness, has anyone tried the So Delicious Coconut Milk Pumpkin Spice? This stuff is soooooooooooo good. I could just drink the whole thing plain.

8. I hope you all have a great weekend! I’m hoping for a good one: parents in town, book club, and just got a text from another friend saying she’ll be here for a conference! Haha everything seems to come at once, right?

Start each day with a grateful heart -- I sure way to turn around a bad day.

  1. I live with my parents right now. Its not too bad, they’re out of town quite a bit, and I live in a small town, so there is no point in renting. When I lived in Duluth (90 miles away) my dad would swing through for lunch if he was in the area for work. And sometimes my mom would drive up for lunch, go for a walk, and then drive home. It was a pretty sweet arrangement.

  2. You and Lindsay are going to be in the same spot and I’m missing it???? Uggghh not fair. Two of my favorites and I am just a whole lotta jealous. 😉 Good thing you’re coming to visit me too. :):)

  3. Wow–you have some fun stuff on the agenda! That is great–those things always lift our spirits <3

That holiday drink sounds yumm! One of my fave holiday drinks is Wassail (my dad makes it)–it's like a delicious hot cider.

And I'm sorry, but I totally laughed at the recipe fail photo…prob b/c my photos OFTEN look like that too! haha

    • After several empty weekends I’m ready for some fun! Haha and I laughed too at my recipe fail, and immediately sent the picture to several friends.

  4. Have a great visit with your parents! My parents moved to Vegas (from MA) shortly after I graduated high school. This meant my brother also moved out there because he was still in school. They’re all still out there (including my niece now) but they come back East (or try to) once a year to visit family.

I love, love, love egg nog around Thanksgiving/Christmas time but unfortunately can’t drink it unless I’m willing to be in pain for a few hours afterwards. It’s really strange, but ever since I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago my stomach has incredible pain if I eat eggs or full fat mozzarella cheese (odd, I know). I don’t know what the phantom pain is all about but since I know what triggers it I usually just avoid those things. But like I said, sometimes it’s too good to pass up and it’s worth it.

    • Hahaha this is nothing! Get ready! Definitely get a big puffy, down to your knees coat if you don’t have one. They look ridiculous but are way better than any other coat I’ve had.

  5. where did you find that pumpkin spice creamer?? it sounds amaaaazing.

i preordered allegiant on my kindle, so i already have it – but have yet to read it. once midterms are over i’m diving into it! i also need to remember what happened in the previous books…

  6. Allegiant… I am SO SO tempted to buy it right now, but I’m currently reading another book (or two) right now as well. Unfortunately while I was reading the awful reviews on Amazon one of the “non spoiler” reviews did indeed have a spoiler 🙁 So now I know what happens. But I still need to read it 🙂

  7. I need to find that coconut milk! Hopefully its gracing some shelf in my town. Duluth MN got its first dose of winter “cold” weather out of nowhere this week. I’m not used to it yet and continued to forget to grab gloves each morning before heading to class.

    • I am! I thought I commented on your blog telling you but I must not have. So excited!!! We will definitely be having a roomie reunion!
