Violent Video Games Ban Struck Down by Supreme Court

On June 27, 2011 the US Supreme Court ruled that California Civil Code sections 1746-1746.5 which bans the sale of violent video games to minors is unconstitutional because it violates the First Amendment. Justice Antonin Scalia wrote the majority opinion stating that the law does not meet the standards for limiting free speech. The law was originally signed into law in October 2005, and an injunction was issued in December 2005 against the law.
