Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend, I had a pretty low-key one, but here’s my recap:
Friday afternoon I took Miss Molly on a walk, which is always a highlight of my week. Great photo of her excitement in the elevator (okay, actually about to lick her nose…).
She had some serious energy and really enjoyed running around in the park. We played chase Katie and normally she looses interest but on Friday she was all for running!
And yes, that’s dirt on her tongue…
That evening I met up with Lauren from Say What You Need To Say at 404 Wine Bar. I was so glad to finally meet her! We’re both friends with Chelsey but have never gotten together and met before, so it was a lot of fun to get to know her and I can’t wait for her to join some of our Chicago Blogger meet ups!
Saturday I headed out later for a run. I knew it was really windy and gusty that day so to avoid the lakefront I headed North West into a neighborhood that I don’t normally walk through. I really enjoyed the change of scenery!
I also saw this sign when I stopped to stretch my calves and it made me laugh, so I snapped a picture:
Five miles done!
Didn’t do much else on Saturday except for running a few errands and watching a movie. I thought I was babysitting in the afternoon but it fell through. Oh well!
Sunday involved a morning workout at home with the jump rope, which was fun to do since I can’t remember the last time I used a jump rope. Then off to church, spent a few hours at Starbucks doing some work, Whole Foods with my sister in law and a little food prep! See? Low key weekend.
Now, on to workouts. First, let’s take a look at my workouts from this past week:
Monday: 3 miles + Purely Inspire Workout #10
Tuesday: Moving Ladder overall body workout (WHEW! Lots and lots and lots of burpees, I was dying! But I beat my time from a month ago by about a minute and a half!).
Wednesday: 3 miles + Jump Rope cardio workout 1 mile walking (ran out of time and just felt like walking instead, so I did a cool down walk)
Thursday: 3 miles + Purely Inspire Workout #9 (legs)
Friday: REST
Saturday: 5 miles (Pace – 9:14 min/mile)
Sunday: Purely Fit Circuit Workout Jump Rope Cardio Workout (I did the cardio workout I skipped earlier in the week; enjoyed it way more than I expected!)
Now, here’s what I have going on this week:
Monday: 3 miles + 12 min HIIT workout from Purely Twins
Tuesday: Purely Inspire Workout #5 (weights workout) + elliptical
Wednesday: 4 miles + Purely Fit Workout #21 (16 min tabata workout)
Thursday: 3 miles + Purely Fit Workout #5 (15 minute HIIT workout)
Friday: REST
Saturday: 6 miles
Sunday: Purely Fit Workouts #9 & #19 (both are short workouts the twins suggested doing on Sat & Sun each with yoga or abs, so I’m just combining them on Sunday).
BONUS: the Twins added a bonus challenge for the week, which is to start with 10 push ups on Monday and then add 2-5 each day. Definitely something I need to work on!
Did you do anything fun this weekend?
Have you ever met a blogger that you’d only known through the internet before?
If you run or walk, what is your favorite path like? Neighborhoods, trail, park?
Im a little MEH at times about my new neighborhood–but Im LOVE LOVE LOVE about its walkability.
I walk everywhere now–through the streets not yet on a trail–and I love that.
Walkability is key for me – I LOVE walking! And I don’t have a car…
Your dog looks like he has fun on the walk. The most dirt on your tongue, the better time you had.
My favorite place to go for walks is a big park near me that goes along the river. There’s so many pretty spots and it’s pretty big so sometimes I can go and not even see another person.
She’s my brother’s dog, but yes, haha dirt = fun for Molly!
I got to dog-sit this weekend! I also painted my boyfriend’s sister and brother-in-law’s bedroom to surprise them while they were in the states for the weekend :)And made two new recipes! Success.
Sounds like a pretty good weekend!
I love talking my goldendoodle to one of the three big parks around us to walk. I don’t like that it’s about a 20 minut drive to get there but it’s so much more peaceful than walking along the roads.
I bet it’s a lot more peaceful, especially when you don’t have to worry about keeping your dog away from cars!
MOLLY!!!!
I love low key weekends, they’re the perfect way to “reset” before the week.
Haha I think Molly goes “LINDSAY” in her head when she sees you.
Sometimes low-key weekends are the best ones. Sounds like you had a good one!
We met up with some friends at a local wing bar on Saturday night and then hung at our house for a bit. We also decided spur of the moment to go out to breakfast on Sunday morning and it was awesome! Also got 3.5 hours of yard work over and done with and hopefully only have to rake once more this season!
We have a bike path that runs through our neighborhood (about 3/4 mile from our house) that I love to run on because I don’t need to worry about cars or traffic unless I’m crossing a street here and there. I don’t know what I’ll do once it snows though because it’s not like they plow it.
I agree with no cars or traffic – that’s why I love the lakefront path usually! And yea… haha snow does make running more difficult.
I like running in parks a lot on asphalt trails or running through neighborhoods on the streets (if it’s safe).
Yea, street running is not so safe here! But I run in the street when I’m at home in Kansas City, especially in the morning there are few cars!
You could come to SLC & babysit baby Lily any time!! <3
Yay for a good 5 miler run!
Haha I WISH I could come hang out with you guys!
Just started following your blog. Firstly, love that you live in Chicago! Would *love* to visit! I’m in the UK but just adore the USA, so much still to explore 😀 I’m really interested in the purely fit workouts, how do you begin with it all?
Ah well I would LOVE to visit the UK! I’ve never even been to Europe! Here’s the link for the purelyfit workout program: http://purelytwins.com/purely-fit-life-home-workout-program/
Aw, love the pictures of your dog! Adorable!
& jumping rope is no joke! I don’t remember it being hard as a kid, but it kicks my butt now when I incorporate it into my workouts!
As a kid it was just a game, I loved it during recess! Granted other people were spinning the rope while I jumped!
