Well hello there! I hope you all had a good weekend – I certainly did, and a very busy one! My weekend really started on Thursday, so we’ll start the recap there!
On Thursday I met up with my brother and sister-in-law at McCormick Place (a convention center just south of downtown) for my swearing in ceremony! We were sworn in, I signed my license, and voila! I am officially a licensed attorney and can practice law in the state of Illinois!
Haha so excited! We heard several good speeches, but luckily the whole thing only took 30 minutes! We sure appreciated their speed…
That evening, I met up with Kelsey, Lindsay, Erin and their significant others for a night of Halloween fun! I spent WAY too much money perfecting my Indian costume, but it turned out well and I had a great time!
We went to a bar that had a ton of arcade games in Wicker Park and it was incredibly entertaining! The weird part, however, is that instead of a normal band that you’d imagine at a bar, they had a marching band… It was odd but nevertheless amusing.

Friday was much more low-key, mostly spent recovering from two late nights in a row and early wake up calls. Well, not early wake up calls but apparently I am unable to sleep in…
Saturday was my BIRTHDAY PARTY! I had a few friends over for a wine-tasting party at my apartment. I was SO excited to finally get to host – I love being a hostess! I had each girl bring a dish for dinner, and a bottle of wine in a paper bag. We numbered each bottle, and then each took a taste of bottle #1, discussed it, guessed the type and cost, and then unveiled it!

We continued this with 7 different bottles throughout the evening, and then once we’d gone through them I pulled them all back out for us to finish enjoying!
The wine concept was a lot of fun, and gave us sort of an activity (drinking wine is an activity, right?), but also I love hanging out and chatting with these girls! Great birthday!
And speaking of my apartment, I’ll have an apartment tour for you all very soon, maybe tomorrow!
Sunday morning a few of us headed to a store in River North to help Lindsay try on wedding dresses and get an idea of what she likes. We had a lot of fun, and it was so great to get to watch her experience trying on dresses for the first time. And we had a little fun using her phone while she was in the dressing room…
Afterwards we walked around, did some shopping, and eventually I ran a few errands and headed home to relax! Fantastic weekend.
Now, on to workouts! Here is how my workouts went this past week:

Happy belated birthday girl! 🙂 looks like you had such a fun weekend too! My wedding dress had a strapless sweetheart neckline and was a big ball gown on the bottom with a long train and buttons up the back.. I loved it!
Thanks, Jana! Aww that sounds like a gorgeous dress, I LOVE buttons up the back!
Congrats on your swearing in!
Thank you, Nicole!
You’re a lawyer now! So exciting!
This weekend was a blast — so much fun!
Yes it was!!!
Congrats… you’re a real attorney! That’s awesome. Sounds like a fabulous bday party! Love wine parties!
Thanks, Taylor!
Congrats on the swearing in! Can’t wait to see the apartment tour!! Which wines were your favorites?
Oh gosh, I honestly can’t remember! I know there was a Malbec we all loved!
Congratulations on being able to officially practice law! Very exciting!
Our Halloween was pretty low key… Just took Hunter to a few houses for trick-or-treating, and then handed out candy at our place. It was fun though!
My wedding dress was strapless and was a subtle “mermaid” cut. Loved it!
Thanks, Ashley! And I LOVE your wedding dress, gorgeous!
I love the wine concept at the party. That sounds super fun!
It was – definitely a fun activity to add to a girls’ night!
Birthday + Halloween + Officially becoming an attorney? Ummm your week was AWESOME! 🙂
Haha it was a pretty good one!
Well now I know who to call if I ever get in trouble in Chicago 🙂 Drinking wine is definitely an activity and that sounds like a wonderful way to spend a birthday celebration!
Haha not sure if I’m the best person to call, but probably the cheapest!
Congrats on signing the papers and Happy Birthday!! Weird the bar had a marching band! Haha
Thanks, Heather! and yes, very weird…
Cute boots! So glad you had a fun birthday part 🙂
and YAY LICENSED ATTORNEY!!! How cool is THAT?!?!
Haha it would be cooler if I could use it!
So much fun to spend time with you guys this weekend1. And congrats on getting sworn in, too! I probably forgot to say that in the midst of guys balancing lawnmowers on their heads and marching bands in bars…
Haha thanks! Yes, the crazy bar scene was a bit distracting…
What a great weekend! Congratulations on your signing in! That’s really cool. Does that mean you can set up your own law office now? Or have I watched way too many American films?! The wine tasting sounds really fun, and is definitely an activity!
Haha I could if I wanted to, but I don’t have that kind of experience!
I love the brown-bag guessing game!
Happy belated bday and congrats on being a practicing lawyer!
It definitely added a fun activity to the girls night!
I was talking with my mom over the weekend and she was telling me about one of her teacher friends’ son who had passed the bar in Illinois. “Oh ya,” I said, “They are getting sworn in on Thursday I’m pretty sure.” Haha. The look on my parents faces that I knew that was priceless. The benefit to reading blogs! 🙂
Congrats again!
Hahaha you were right!!! So smart.
Halloween night we missed a costume contest by 5 minutes – drat! – but were able to spend a couple of hours with friends. Late birthday party…can I count the dinner my boyfriend’s mom throws me?! Otherwise, it would have been two years ago! We had people over for pizza and board games!
Oh darn! I would have loved to see a costume contest!
What does the jump rope cardio workout entail? I’d love to try it!
